The Bad Boy And The English Redhead.

Chapter 1

My life is completely ruined when my Mum tells me I am moving to America.

Okay, not completely ruined... but, still, going to school in America?

No.

I love England, I love being in year twelve, and I love watching Sherlock. I love going into school and learning about World War One because it interests me. But, when I move, it will be hell.

First of all, I have no idea about what all the states are. Second of all, I cannot leave my best friend, Mary, since we are practically inseparable. Finally, I don't intend to start a relationship with an American boy. As soon as I have the money, I am moving straight back to England and will start Cambridge University (if I can get in).

"Lucy May Edwards! Get down here now! We have a plane to catch!" My mother screams from downstairs. It makes me jump and stops me from staring st my empty room. All interesting things are out of my window, so I go up to it and gaze out for one last time. I savour the way my garden is so narrow, but it is quite big for a garden in London, and remember how my life has changed. My mum's last shriek makes me go downstairs and get in the car. A one and a half journey to Heathrow Airport, then roughly a seven and a half hour plane journey to New York. I am stressed.

All I can do is fall asleep for the journey, so that's what I do.

"Luce, we're at Heathrow." Lukas, my twin, shakes me, waking me up from my sleep. We all walk in, dragging our suitcases behind us, and sort out our boarding passes, and passports. The first part of the journey is over, thankfully, and I really fancy a hot chocolate.

"Mum, can I have some money for a hot chocolate, please?" I ask sweetly.

"No, hon-" My mum is interrupted.

"Yo, Luce! Come over here and give your big twin a hug!" Lukas yells. Since my baby sister, Amelia, hates it when people shout, she begins to cry her eyes out.

I march over to Lukas, and slap him across his cheek.

"Are you mad? You know Meli hates it when people shout! And stop shouting in an airport for God's sake!" I hiss in his ear.

Sometimes, I feel like I'm the mother in our family.

He rubs his cheek as I grab his wrist and drag him back to where my family are standing. I take Meli from my mother's arms and she calms down. Her little mop of red hair is shining and her hazel eyes are red from crying. She snuggles into me and falls asleep, my smell calms her. She looks just like me, but the only difference we share is our eye colour. Lukas, on the other hand, looks like my brother, but we don't look just like each other. All of my sisters and I share the red hair, whether it's dark red or like mine, a bright natural crimson. My brothers have brown hair.

"I want my my PSP, but Dad won't let me!" Harvey, my seven year old brother, whines. I hold his hand and squeeze it.

"Hey, Har, maybe I will let you play Subway Surfers on my kindle fire if you be good." I say, and he shuts up. I smirk in my head, my mother has always called me the 'Child Whisperer' since I have always been good at looking after them, calming them, generally, being a good motherly figure, even though I don't have any children.

"Anyway, mum, can I go get a hot chocolate?" I ask her, and she nods.

"Just take Lukas, Harvey, Amelia and Elizabeth with you." She says. Elizabeth, my twelve year old sister, comes jumping over towards me, grinning.

She's definitely not having a bottle of coca cola. I think to myself.

My mother hands me a twenty pound note and my siblings and I head over to the small Starbucks.

"Hello, darling, can I take your order?" The old cashier lady asks me.

I smile at her and reply, "Uh.. yes. Please may I have two hot chocolates, two of those blackcurrant juices, and two coffees."

It takes about five minutes before we get our drinks then I walk back to my parents with my siblings following me. I hand the coffees over to my parents, then give Lukas his hot chocolate, and Elizabeth and Harvey their blackcurrant juices. My mother lets me keep the changed because it is pointless having it because the Americans use dollars, not pounds.

Meli stirs in her sleep, making me smile, she is going to grow up to be a pretty girl.

"Drink your drinks quickly, children. We have to board the plane in an hour, so we can get ready." My Dad says and holds Harvey's hand, whilst Elizabeth holds my mother's. Lukas stands by me and I sip my hot chocolate.

Once all of us have finished our drinks, I walk with Elizabeth to the toilet, and give Meli to my mother. We all go to the toilet and head over to where we shall board the plane. I take Meli back from my mother as we stand at the front of the First Class Line, ready to board the plane.

* * * * * *

"The Emergency Exits are here, here and here." The Air Hostesses point to all the Emergency Exits as the recorded voice explains to us where they are. Lukas, being the teenaged boy he is, is staring at the Air Hostesses and at how 'pretty' they are. Meli has her own specialised baby seat and Elizabeth has her own seat. I sit with Meli and Harvey. Whilst Lukas sits with Elizabeth and my Mum. My Dad has a seat next to a couple who aren't strange or creepy in any way since we are in the First Class.

The plane lurches forward as it speeds up and gains the power for lift off. I can feel it as the plane begins to go up into the air, and my body is leaning back into the seat. Harvey is grinning at me, fascinated by the way the ground gets smaller and smaller.

"Har, go to sleep, you may as well since this ride is going to be seven hours long." I point out to him and he leans back into his seat. Meli is fast asleep because it is during her nap time and she usually sleeps for about eight hours during her nap time.

Feeling reassured that my siblings will be okay when I go to sleep, I let my body rest for the plane journey.

* * * * * *

Groggily, I sit up and look around, Harvey is asleep against the wall, since he is next to the window, whilst Meli is staring up at me with wonder. I look behind me and whisper to my mother, "How long have I been asleep?"

"The pilot made an announcement a couple of minutes before you woke up that we will be landing in ten minutes."

I sit back properly in my seat and hold my nine month old sister's hand. She looks so peaceful, even though she is awake.

* * * * *

We get into a taxi and my Mum directs the taxi driver to where we are going. I have no idea where oue new home is, but I know it is near New York. Because our family is quite big, we have to get two taxis, so I am with my mother, Elizabeth and Meli, whilst Dad is with Lukas and Harvey. It is raining lightly, the water trickling down the windows of the taxi. It is colder, out here in New York compared to London, and you can tell it is late August.

By the time we get to my new home, I have listened to the first album of Bastille. Elizabeth had decided to take one of the earphones and put it in her ear so she could listen as well. It has stopped raining, so the ground is wet when I get out.

I am stunned when I see my new house, or rather, mansion.

"How were you able to afford this?" I gasp.

"We made a deal with the boss, dear, and he said if we lead the business in America, he would donate some money to a new home. This is it." My Dad smiles.

I smile and grab my suitcase, "This is amazing! I'm having the second best room!"

After I say that, I sprint into the house, being chased after my complaining siblings.
