I can remember his voice, warning me, taunting me, breaking me. And whenever I think of him, I am disgusted, like a vampire going for sweet blood, but getting a coppery taste.
And to have him ruin me, then to come to America and have someone give me death threats scares me. I change from my mighty lion to a petrified kitten. I lose hope whenever I think of someone trying to hurt me on purpose, I lose it all.
So when I go to school on Monday, I am silent, not uttering a word. I only speak to my best friends and old friends, the crew, Ari likes to call it.
Even when my brother come over alone to speak to me, I am silent.
"What's up with you today, Luce?" He asks, his voice full of concern. No one knows me well enough like Lukas, and he knows I am hiding something from him. From everyone.
"Nothing. I'm just tired." I answer.
"Were you up again last night?" He asks, and I nod. He knows I had another nightmare. He sighs, running a hand through his curly brown hair.
"Look, I was gonna say, I want to hang out with you sometime, as brother and sister." He says.
"Today?" I ask.
"Yeah, after school." He tells me.
"I can't. I'm seeing my boyfriend." I say him, and his eyes widen. He realises within seconds it's Tyler, and I see him shake in anger.
He wants to say something, but he can't, because it could cause an argument.
"Just don't do anything stupid, and if he hurts you at all like.... just tell me." Lukas says, and I walk back to my friends.
Ari is grinning, and I smile back, only making it small.
"Sooooooo, Luce, tell me of the date with Tyler and that hangout yesterday." She says, and everyone in our friendship group's head turns towards me.
"Well," I start, "On the date, he took me into the middle of the forest, blindfolded me, and when we got there, he removed them. There, standing in front of me, was a beautiful picnic basket with our food in. Before you ask, we had bread, cheese and syrup sponge cake. He took me home after that and we had a funny argument about who was better. Captain America or Wolverine. He then tried to kiss me, but I turned my head, and he kissed my cheek instead."
"That sounds pretty good, now tell me of this hangout." Ari says.
"On the day of the hangout, Lukas was having some boy sleepover thing. Matt was there. And when I went outside as I just got into the porch, Matt came over, knowing Tyler was in his car watching,q dry and took my first kiss. It was pretty good actually. Anyway, I asked him what the hell he was doing, and he told me, 'Just letting him know you're mine.' I slapped him and hung out with Tyler. We went to this really nice park, he then took me to an ice cream shop and I managed to get ice cream underneath my bottom lip, which he licked off. So, we kissed, and he asked me to be his girlfrie-"
"What did you say?" Keeley asks, and I suppress a grin.
"I said yes." I whisper, and they all squeal. Literally all of them. Every one is looking at us like we are nutters, and I glare at them to look away, which they do.
"So, you know Matt said your are his, can't that mean Tyler is after you as well?" Amber asks, and we all turn to look at her.
"What do you mean?" I say, everyone is listening to her.
"You think Matt is after you, don't you? And Tyler and him hate eachother. So, it could be Tyler just trying to get into your pants." Amber says, and I laugh.
