The Fate of Hades

Side Mission Unlocked: The Freelancer

I wake up on a new planet. Nothing is familiar to me. My squad of 4 came here with a purpose; find and kill Hades. On our way to this planet, Venus I think, my mates were all knocked off course. Lucky for me, my shuttle was only slightly off course and I made it close to my destination. Also lucky for me, I'm already in my javelin suit, my trusty ranger. I take in my surroundings, looking for places to hide, what the native species seem to be, and all around wanting not to die. I hear some commotion nearby and climb onto a rock to get a better view, and the upper-hand just in case. What I see sure throws me for a loop: Fucking. Space. Rhinos. What shocks me even more is who they're fighting. A guy with a helmet and cloak, and a guy in a suit that kind of resembles a suped up javelin. They're both armed so I decide to hide behind rocks and observe from afar. These guys are pretty good too. I better watch them and make sure I don't get on the wrong end of the gun. Some weird versions of the space rhinos and other robotic things pop up out of nowhere, but they're black and white. The two I have been watching easily take them out like they know whats going on. Should I get some answers from-

I'm knocked out of my thoughts, literally, by one of those damn rhinos. I flip over so I'm on my back and aim my rifle at it. I press the trigger and its head explodes. A bigger one with a blue shield around it charges me. As it comes towards me, I whack it with my electric baton. Its shield explodes and the thing staggers. I jump up and slam my baton on its face to silence it. Two robots are behind me now, and one looks like its boosting the other. I use my homing rocket to take out the smaller bot while jumping away from the big one. When the booster goes down, the big fella goes off my radar. I hover in place for a minute trying to locate it when I see a shimmer of some kind. I throw my grenade towards it and I notice I hit some kind of shield again. Then it disappears again. I overheat my jet and come crashing down to the surface. When I look up from the fall I find the robot ready to blast me in the head. I dodge towards the side and use my ultimate to launch every rocket I could at it. Seems like it got killed, but its hard to tell when all it does is get sucked into a portal.

I turn around to try and find those two people I was watching, but I don't see them. I climb onto a nearby boulder and jump into flight for a little bit of an aerial survey. I don't see them but I do see a portal and a giant spider robot thing where it's coming from. I fly over and enter the portal before it closes. This has to be where those two went. Before long, I emerge in a very dark area with a wisp-like being swirling around my arm. It provides the only light to see with. I take a look around, but I can't see the guys I followed. Maybe this is a challenge room or something? I start walking around, searching for any more light, when I see Hades himself. He seems to be in some kind of trance while floating there in the open. I take out my sniper rifle ready to achieve my mission. I aim it right at his head. I pull the trigger.

The bullet stops in mid air just before impact. I get ambushed by the two soldiers from earlier. One has his bow pointed at me while the other has my arms trapped.
"Get away from our leader, scum. Go back into whatever hole you came from," the one with the bow says.

"What are you? You clearly don't belong here," the one holding me adds.

"I'm not here to hurt you. I just have to close The Cataclysm. It just happens to be Hades, your leader... I can see how this isn't helping my case."

"Yeah, that's not gonna happen. You have to get through us if you want to kill our friend."

"Wait, what do you mean cataclysm? And WHO ARE YOU ANYWAY?

*switches to Hades' p.o.v*

"I'm a freelancer. And a cataclysm is going to destroy us if I don't kill Hades!" I hear a voice yelling. Hold on... Kill me? I open my eyes and look over to see my team holding back a... Warframe? No... What is that thing?

I attempt to get closer but I cant move for some reason. Some kind of force is preventing me from doing anything.

"Guys? Little help here. Can't break free of whatever is holding me!" Everyone stops what they're doing when they notice I'm awake. Brimstone takes out some random pistol and shoots at me! Next thing I know I'm able to move again. "Um thanks? Did you know there was a force field?"

"Nope. I'm just ticked about you threatening me a while ago." He replies oddly calm. I look at the stranger who seems to just be standing there awkwardly despite having a bounty to kill me.

"So, mystery man, why do you have to kill me again? And I would be careful with your words because if my team doesn't incinerate you, I will." I hold up my hand and let it glow with null energy.

The stranger opens the face-plate of his suit and takes a step closer. I summon my scythe and get ready to strike just in case. He looks at me, slightly scared, but it changes to more amusement than anything. "What are you gonna do with that thing? I bet you can't even slice a piece of normal metal with it."

"You would lose that bet," Cerberus says.

"Uh ok. Anyway. Yes, sorry, I do have to kill you. There's something dangerous inside you that, if triggered, could be really bad for the whole galaxy. So if you don't mind me-"

"Oh I mind you very much. Stay away from my team, or you will be sorry. Nothing personal, I just need to not die in order to save the worlds we come from." I bite back. That seems to grab his attention.

"Save the... Worlds? As in plural? That explains why you guys know whats going on here. Say, what about I tag along huh? See what you're about, maybe not kill you if you actually are good. Just put the sickle down and lets make a truce" he looks at me, very hopeful.

"Hey are you really considering this?" Cerberus whispers to me.

"Um... Ugh. Sure. Welcome aboard. I guess... If you try anything I will leave you on another planet though. Now, get out of your..."

"Javelin"

"Right... That. Get out and shake my hand, and we have a deal." I dispel my scythe and stick out my hand. Stranger gets out of his suit and cautiously walks over to me, sticking his hand out as well. As soon as we make contact, we are both blasted backwards. I am caught by my team but stranger isn't so lucky. He gets thrown really far from us, and his suit. When I recollect myself, I feel slightly different. Like everything inside shifted and merged. My powers! I try to summon my scythe. But I can't. I cant even make null flames form. I don't have my guardian or tenno powers, but yet I still feel everything within me. This can't be good. My team is on top of the knocked out 'freelancer' in seconds. I'm on my knees shocked and horrified. "There has to be a meaning to this. I need my powers!" I smash my fist into the ground and surprisingly I'm not hurt. There's even a small dent in the ground. Maybe there is some hope yet?
