************************************"Thank you and have a nice day." She forced a smile on her face as she handed the customer the white plastic bag. She was finally starting to help out at her beauty supply but missed her daughter so much.
Suddenly, the doorbell chimed near her and she looked over at the front door and saw her brother walk in while carrying Brielle's car seat.
She gasped, before walking from behind the glass counter. "Thank you for picking her up Shawn."
"You know it's no problem. I gotta get used to taking care of a baby anyway." He let out a soft chuckle as she grabbed Brielle from her carseat. Time was dwindling down and he was slowly trying to prepare him and Diamond for the arrival of Santana. But every time he thought about the delivery, he became nervous. He wanted to be there for Diamond and be a good father to his son.
"Hey mamas." She cooed before planting a kiss on Brielle's chubby cheek. She was awake and alert. She looked around the room before her eyes landed on Noelle.
"How's business?" He asked while looking around the somewhat crowded beauty supply.
"It's getting there. I'm almost close to reaching my goal for this week. I think I need to hire more security though."
"What happened?" He panicked.
"Nothing too serious. I just caught some girl trying to steal two packs of eyelashes. I'm glad Jeff caught her." She said while nodding her head towards the security guard that stood near the door.
"You need to get cameras installed inside and two TVs overhead where you could see them. I can install them—"
"No. You need to focus on Diamond. I'll ask Daddy." She told him.
"You know what—" he said while snapping his fingers together. "I knew it was something I had to tell you."
"What happened now?" She sighed. She was tired of hearing bad news.
"Cory got killed last night. Somebody shot him inside his warehouse. I just wish I got to him first." He clenched his jaws together and looked down at his shoes. He heard about what Cory did to his sister and searched half of Crowne Heights for him. Only to find out through the streets the next morning that he'd been killed. He didn't play when it came to his family. And it pissed him off knowing that he couldn't get to him.
"I'm glad you didn't. I don't wanna see you in jail or worse." She mumbled the last part as she toyed with her necklace. "Your son is coming soon and I want you to be there to see it."
He sighed to himself once he saw the sad expression on her face. "My bad sis. I know you still hurt about losing Benji—"
"It's cool. I'm not thinkin' about that." She lied. She didn't want her brother to become worried about her. The last thing she wanted was for people to know that she still had her moments where she would just burst into tears.
"Well, I'm 'bout to head home before yo' best friend start trippin' again." He shook his head and sighed. He couldn't handle Diamond when she was angry.
