"I hope you registered to take a summer school course, Miss. Comis." Mr.Gebra (silent G) asked, trying to sound polite, walking towards me with my last test from two days ago. My test paper was marked with a C on the top right corner. "Instead of zoning out during my lessons, why not pay attention and maybe even learn a thing or two?"

Mr Gebra was a lot of things, he was bright and self-aware, he was also not afraid to call me out in front of the class when we were all in the middle of doing our private work.
I left the room with mix emotions, at the end of class with the rest of the students. 'Great...' Just great. It's either I break the news Asenath now or she'll receive a surprise phone call. I didn't want t her to cancel summer plans we had together, I really wanted to try to get away from the city for a little while, not be stuck in a classroom for another month recovering my math credit...

My math grades weren't bad, there were in the mid 50%, or bad as in under that, either way, those marks would be a death sentence for me and If Nath ever glanced at my math marks. But the situation wasn't completely terrible, I had my mysterious knight in shining armour that would save me from going to summer school. I haven't really met the person that I was paired up with online and was assigned to help me through the school's website, but I was assigned a date to where we should meet for review. When I tried getting more information like asking their name or thanking them for taking the time to help me out, its either they were dismissive or didn't reply to any of the messages, including the one that I asked if I should bring treats or not.

At the start of lunch with Georgia at my side, we went ahead to the cafeteria this time to find Jon and his group to seat out in the open for once. That and the fact that the teacher of the classroom we usually hang out in, wasn't here today, the doors where locked shut for the day.

Sometimes, finding somewhere to sit during lunch can be overwhelming and stressful. I say that because we couldn't even locate Jon or his buddies." Maybe we should have thought about the situation beforehand and came earlier..." I muttered, I was on my own, searching through the cafeteria for Jon's blue plaid shirt, while Georgia decided of all days, to buy food from the cafeteria for once. I stood by a wall, scanning the lunchroom to look for familiar faces. My eyes landed on person to person, then finally landing on Missy, with her group of friends following her. The only change in their appearance was that they weren't wearing their cheerleader uniform, it looked like the three were following their personal dress code: Crop tops and tight jeans.

I didn't feel the unsettling feeling in my stomach whenever we would make brief eye contact (she would give me a sour look), the feeling of annoyance when she would find her way to quickly cut in line in front of me, or react when we crossed paths (Note this took place hours apart) I just found her behavior...strange. She's better than this. I felt cold hands playfully shove me slightly, making me step back. I looked up at the person beside me, looking right back at me with their midnight blue eyes. "Hi there." I greeted Jack, who only held a red ruby apple, wearing a play black short sleeve shirt. "Hey." he greeted warmly. "Hope you're doing well." "Why wouldn't I be?" "Well.." he index figure pointed out the bandage I had wrapped around my finger, one of Missy's pranks. "Just a scratch." Jack's presence suddenly made me feel queasy and nauseated just by standing near him. "Uhmm...(y/n), you good?" He must have noticed my expression change and when I slowly started to back away from him. "I'm...great! I just remembered! I need to find a certain someone. I'll also be bringing my plus one tomorrow." "Cool, I'll give you the deets-" I'll catch up with you later!" I ran off, like the coward I was. 'What was that about?' I thought, questioning myself and my behaviour. Unaware that I blindly went deeper into the crowd again, it wasn't till a faint voice called out my name, that I started to follow, becoming cleared as I got closer.
