" For the last few decades, Greek mythology has been studied very closely by many experts. These experts discovered and collected most of the artifacts you'll see today. Now there are a couple of rules all of you must abide to while we're here. There's no touching the artifacts, that includes poking, tapping, and handling. You cannot separate from your group, meaning you must stay with your assigned alphabetical crowd at all times. There will be a brief 15 minute break every hour where all the groups will meet up. Within this break you can socialize with your other peers, take a potty break or walk around, but you must be back within the 15 minutes you are given. Any questions? No? Good. Alright class lets get going. we have to be at the museum in an hour. Chop Chop!
Mr. Randle started waving his hands in the direction of the charter buses parked out front and shouting out orders to get on your assigned bus. I was a little busy adjusting my top and frankly too tired to really listen to any shouting mr. randle had yet to come. Yesterday's " battle" with Collin really drained me of all the energy I had left, and with 5 hours of sleep last night, my day was not off to a great start. Unfortionalty for me I had to go on this field trip today at 6:00 am sharp. I saw chad waiting by his truck and walked towards him. He gave me a big cheesy smile the whole time I was walking to get to him, and when I did he hugged me and pecked my right cheek with those soft lips that he possessed.
" Good morning beautiful. " he whispered in my ear as we pulled away from our hug. " not that great of a morning. " I mumbled with a yawn following shortly after. " I can see your not a morning person. " he chuckled when I gave him a glare. " I'll have to remember that. " he mumbled under his breath. " Why aren't you on a bus? " I asked changing the subject. " you mean why aren't we on a bus. " he gave me a big grin and I responded with a confused look. " Get in. " he said nudging me towards his truck door. What he was saying finally clicked in my brain and I realized that he wanted to drive to the museum. I slid into his truck blushing like a fool while he laughed lightly at my slowness. He shut my door like a gentleman and walked around to get in as well. When he hopped in the truck he shut his door and started her up.
We followed the charter buses as they pulled out of the school and onto the road. I pulled my legs up to my chest and leaned back, enjoying the music as we drove down the road to the museum. I started to play with my mothers necklace, twirling it around my fingers. Out of the corner of my eye I could see clay glimpsing at me curiously, almost desperately wanting to figure something out. " what's that around your neck? " he finally asked me. " a necklace. " I simply stated. He gave me a flat look which caused me to laugh a little. " I know it's a necklace dummy. " he said flicking my nose from across his seat. " what I meant to ask was, what's it worth to you?" he continued. I paused for a moment before speaking up. " it was a birthday present from someone important to me."
" And this important person, where are they now? " he questioned cautiously. " She's far away.." I slowly spoke. " will you ever see her? " I could tell he knew these kind of questions were personal but I didn't mind him asking. " If I ever want to see her I have to prove myself worthy.. I don't know exactly how I'm suppose to do that or even what it means. I guess I'm just gonna have to wing it huh? " he chuckled at my last words before getting serious again. " This woman, I'm assuming, ran from something? "
" Or someone. " I spoke up. He raised his eyebrows curiously and i just shrugged. " I don't know the whole story but I know enough.. "
" Well tell me more my love. " he said with a smug smile.
" Can I ask you a question first? "
" Sure " he responded.
" Why do you want to know? I mean not like I don't want to tell you but I mean what's so important about my necklace to you?" I waited for him to respond while we made a right turn. He spoke up shortly after.
