''No excuses,'' Mother held out her spatula in front of Mai and Hoya as they settled down at the table for breakfast. ''I can't have the school calling just because my kids aren't attending. Do you understand? I'm going to take things easy on you guys and let you go back in a few more days because of what happened with Mai, got it?''
''Ne umma,'' Mai and Hoya both nodded, taking a seat.
The air smelt of bacon and pancakes. Hoya smiled widely as he reached for a strip of bacon.
''I missed you,'' he spoke to it, taking a bite. ''Aahhh American food.''
Mai rolled her eyes. ''I'm going to the cafe,''
''No,'' Mother crossed her arm. ''Not alone,''
Mai gave Hoya the 'look' and he stared back, knowing what she wanted.
''Do I have to go? I'm not done eating,'' he whined with food in his mouth.
''What's wrong with my cooking anyways?'' Mother sighed.
''You never cook, we always have a personal chef,'' Mai replied. ''Its weird. Besides, I wanted to visit Sehun and pick up some crossaints.''
Mother clicked her tongue. ''If you want to visit your boyfriend just say that.''
''Sehuns not my boyfriend.'' Mai exasperated. ''If anyone, its Daehyun.''
The room went quiet.
''Who's your boyfriend?'' Kai walked in looking like he just came out of the shower.
''What the fuck, when did you get here?'' Mai asked.
''Language...'' Mother eyed her.
She bowed, implying an apology.
The t shirt clung onto Kai's skin as it were still a bit moist, and his abdomnen was peeking through.
''I let him in thirty minutes ago,'' Hoya said.
''Your house is so big that you won't even notice other people are here, should I bring my family?'' Kai joked.
Mai got out of her seat and softly tugged Hoya's shirt. ''Are you finished? Kajaa''
Hoya sighed and got up as well.
Mai stepped outside the house, waiting for Hoya to follow along.
Kai came out first. ''Is saying 'What The Fuck' how you greet your oppa?''
''Sorry,'' Mai laughed. He stepped closer to her.
''A hi would have been nice.''
''I know,'' she stared down at the pavement.
''Is something wrong? '' Kai noticed the changed in Mai's voice, and her emotions seemed to appear pretty dull.
''Ah, no! Haha,''
Hoya came out and walked towards the car, with the driver waiting inside.
Mai and Kai went as well, Daehyun approached them.
''What's this?'' Daehyun held his phone in front of Mai.
She stared at the screen and read the headline aloud ''Is Daehyun Dating a Cheater?''
''W...what ? Who wrote this article?'' Mai's eyes widened...
''Look, our relationship is fake, but it doesn't give you the right to mess around with other guys.'' Daehyuns voice was scratchy, it was obvious that he was pissed off.
He scrolled down so that she could see the entire article. There were pictures of her being with Kai and others with Sehum. The writings were saying that she was dating all three of them.
''I'm a star. I can't look bad just because my publicity girlfriend is going around with other men.''
Mai's eyes widened, feeling insulted. ''Oh my god, what are you implying? You're going around causing fake articles about us dating that you want people to believe and then you fall for this scandalous rumor, believing it yourself? I am dating nobody! Should I tell the world that??!''
Hoya walked in between them, ''Hyung, you should go...'' He said to Daehyun. ''Let's not argue so early in the morning.''
He always had an optimistic personality.
''Listen here Mai, you agreed to do this don't you know how to act like what you should? You're making me look bad,''
Mai sarcastically smiled. ''Is that so? I'm the one that is making you look bad? Because you're the one that wanted ME to be your pretend girlfriend, just to put on a little show, to benefit YOU. Well YOU listen to me Daehyun,'' she dabbed her finger at his chest. ''Since I'm dragging you down, I will drop this so that you can be so amazing on your own, tell your manager the deal is off!!''
Mai went inside the car and slammed the door shut.
''What the fuck, man?'' Kai asked.
''Mai!!'' Daehyun banged on the glass. She ignored him, turning the other way. ''Mai!! I didn't ask for this!!!!''
Kai shoved Daehyun, causing him to take a few steps back. ''Leave her alone,''
Daehyun pushed Kai back. ''Fuck off,'' he spat, turning around and leaving.
Hoya bit his lip as he watched Daehyun leave.
