avi; welcoming micah + his heart surgery

Today is October 15th, which is Micah Kaplan's birthday! Baby Kaplan #9 is here!

Micah Joshua Kaplan was just born a few minutes ago! Micah is crying loudly and is kicking around, making Avi and Kate both feel very relieved and very happy that is he okay!

Kate has been really nervous about this day for two reasons. One, Kate has never had a c-section before, she always had regular and natural child births. Kate is really scared to have major surgery and the recovery afterwards. Her OBGYN and Micah's heart doctor both agreed that Kate should have a c-section so Micah wouldn't be stressed during the delivery.

And the second reason was that she was very nervous about how Micah would be after being born. Kate was very scared that Micah would have trouble breathing or his heart would have any problems.

However, all of Kate's worries subside after she hears Micah cry very loudly!

"He is a cutie pie! Congratulations to you and your husband!" Nurse Lauren says happily to Kate as she fixes Kate's oxygen cannula.

"Thank you. I am so glad he is doing okay." Kate says to Nurse Lauren with a big grin.

"He looks really great! The c-section was easier on his heart for sure. I am glad he is doing well!" Nurse Lauren says to Kate.

Avi smiles at Kate and gives her a thumbs up making Kate smile ear to ear.

"What is the baby's name?" Nurse Lauren asks Kate.

"Micah Joshua Kaplan." Kate says happily to Nurse Lauren.

"Aw! I love that name!" Nurse Lauren says to Kate with a grin.

"Thank you!" Kate says to Nurse Lauren.

A few minutes later, Avi walks over to Kate, holding a happy and very alert Micah in his arms. Micah is bundled up in a white blanket and he has a blue hat on his head.

"Somebody wants to meet their Mama for the first time." Avi says as he sits down next to Kate.

"Hi, Micah, hi, baby. Aww, he is so little." Kate says as she rubs Micah's head tenderly.

"Six pounds, twelve ounces and is twenty inches long. Perfect. His heart sounds really good too." Avi says as he kisses Kate tenderly.

"Aw, good. Hi, baby. Happy birthday, Micah." Kate says to Micah.

"Happy birthday, little man." Avi says as he rocks Micah in his arms.

"He is so perfect. Such a blessing." Kate says as she kisses Micah's cheek.

After fifteen minutes of bonding, Micah's heart doctor wants to take Micah to the specialize nursery to check on him.

"Dr. King and his team are going to take them to the nursery to check him out more in depth, love." Avi says to Kate.

"Can you go with him, Avi?" Kate asks Avi softly.

"I think I can! Do you want me to stay with you though?" Avi asks Kate softly.

"No, I'll be fine Avi. Please go with Micah and take lots of pictures of him." Kate says to Avi with a cheeky grin.

Avi grins ear to ear at Kate and tenderly kisses her twice.

"Okay love, I'll go with Micah. I'll see you in a little bit. I love you." Avi says to Kate.

"Okay, babe! I love you too and I'll see you later." Kate says to Avi with a grin.
