When Stiles' voice ceased I lifted my face up. The transparent board was there in front of me. But all the names and photos were gone. Four letters were written over the whole board. Letters creating a word. A word without which Stiles wouldn't have been Stiles. JEEP.
"Mia?" Stilinski grabbed my shoulder. Unfortunately, it wasn't my best friend but his father. I lifted my frightened face to him. "We need Scott," he decided. I just nodded.
As we were leaving the room, I turned to the board. All pictures and names were back. I didn't know if the word jeep meant something more.
.
"I have a son," sheriff Stilinski leaned against a cupboard in McCall's kitchen. Liam, Scott, Malia and Lydia had already been sitting at a table. I was still standing outside and listening. "His name is Mieczysław Stilinski. But we call him Stiles. I remember. When Stiles was a little kid, he couldn't say his first name. I'm not sure why. Pretty much rolls off the tongue, but uh... The closest he could get was mischief. His mother used to call him that until... I remember when uhm... when Stiles first got his jeep. It belonged to his mother. She wanted him to have it. The first time he took a spin behind the wheel, he went straight into a ditch. I gave him his first roll of dick tape that day. He was always getting into trouble. But he always had a good heart. Always. We're here tonight because my goofball son decided to drag Scott, his greatest friend in the world, into the woods to see a dead body."
"How did you remember?" Scott asked.
"It started with Stiles' jersey. Then I found the red string for his crime board. Finally, his whole room came back. But... today... today it went forward a lot. And that's thanks to Stiles' self-called younger sister, Mia."
I thought it would be cool to appear right in this moment. So I did it.
"Oh my God," Liam immediately ran to me, "Mia!" I couldn't just take a breath and I was imprisoned in Liam's firm hug. "You're okay."
"Physically, yeah, I guess," I pulled away from Liam because Scott headed to me, "but my psychics' literally calling for help."
"I told you," Malia got into it, "we should have sent that Raeken guy back down immediately."
"It's not about Theo." Scott let me go and listened to my explanation. "Without him, I wouldn't probably even stand here right now. Scott, I need to do it." Scott's bad premonitions showed when I beckoned to my pocket. The Ghost Rider's gun was in there. "Mia," Lydia also stood up, "no. Trust me, there sure is some other way then simply give up."
"That rift..." Scott was thinking out loud, glancing at the others.
"We need to restore it and spread it to make Stiles here at the same time," Lydia added.
"It's certain," Scott turned to me, "we need to remember Stiles."
.
"I still don't understand," I said again when Liam, sheriff and I left the car and headed to the police station, "why you didn't want to bring me with you."
"You will in a minute," nervous Liam exhaled.
We opened the door and came inside. We were shocked. The station was completely empty, not a person to be seen. Sheriff went through broken tables and bent to a police walkie talkie. "Any available units," he tried after pressing a button, Liam and I approached him, "this is sheriff Stilinski. Do you copy?"
No response.
"I repeat, any and all units, this is sheriff Stilinski. Respond immediately with your twenty."
