I walked through the hallway of Riverdale High, making my way towards my locker. I stopped in front of my locker as people passed by or stood at their own lockers. Slowly I put the combination into the lock before it clicked, and the door opened. On the small shelf on the top of the locker was a pink gift bag with white tissue paper with glitter specks standing tall. I looked around the hall, seeing if someone was watching but there wasn't.
I eyed it as I put my books away, before I grabbed the gift. I noticed a card in the bag, the envelop was also pink and my name was scribbled across it. I put the bags strings on my finger as I opened the envelop. Opening it, the card had two birds on it, setting on a power line. I opened it and started to read the messy hand writing,
"Annabelle, I am so sorry that I stood you up on closing night of the Drive Inn. I really didn't want to, and I didn't know exactly how to tell you what had happened. I really hope you can forgive me, and possibly give me a second chance for a date. A real date. And on that date, I can explain to you what happened. I wanted to call you the next morning, but I thought my best decision was give you time to cool down, assuming you were angry at me already I didn't want to push anything.
I bought you a gift, to try to make up for it but I don't think it will. I'll get the hint if you don't text me, or even so much as put the gift to use. Even if you don't, I want you to keep it. I hope you can forgive this stupid mistake. Also, this was Cheryl's idea on how I should make it up to you, after turning down the idea of buying you a thousand red roses. But, if you want that I can do that too.
Love, Reggie Mantle"
I smiled at the letter as I put it back in the envelop and pulled the paper out, putting it in my locker. I pulled out a bronze box and smiled as I opened it, I let out a small gasp as I looked at the necklace, running my fingers over the chain. "Who's that from?" I jumped as my cousin leaned against the locker beside me, "Jesus Christ, Archie!" I squealed, as he chuckled. I turned to him with a small smile, "Can you put it on me?" I ask, and he nods as he leans up and takes it from the box. I turn around and pull my hair up as he wraps the necklace around my neck and clamps it on a loose setting. I turned around and put the paper in the bag, before putting the card in my bag. "Don't you have a practice to get to?" I tease, as he sighs, "I guess I do" I smiled and turned to him as I shut my locker "I'll walk you" I tell him.
He gives me a quizzical look as we start to walk down the hallway, and towards the gymnasium where he goes to change. I pass by and walk out to the field, eyeing before I noticed him. I smiled as I walked over to the bench he had a leg propped up on as he talked to Moose. He poured some of the water into his mouth and looked up, quickly noticing me as I walked towards him. I stopped about forty feet from him, causing him to say something to Moose before walking over to me.
