Hearing that tugs at Garmadon and Cole because they didn't realize that Malody had to live with her trauma. "Malody had to learn to survive the pain that she had gotten over the years," Cole said remembering the scars on Malody's left forearm. "From the little I saw, she had to move forward in a world that forced her to grow up," Garmadon said remembering the fact that Malody had to learn to use her powers to protect Ninjago. They watch Malody sparing against Lloyd with a rope dart which is a weapon that the team barely trained against. "But the team has faced similar trauma but what makes hers different," Cole said trying to figure out what makes Malody different. "That's because her trauma is when she was alone and compared to you and the rest of the team had faced your trauma were faced together," Garmadon said knowing the difference between the team and Malody. Cole starts to understand the point that Garmadon is making when it comes to the difference between the silver ninja and the team of ninjas. "Then why do I want to help Malody?" Cole asked looking at the ninja in silver.
Malody dodged another of her brother's attacks by using the rope to block the sword. "You're good with the rope dart. "Thanks and my skill with the weapon is years of training," Malody said with a smile on her face. With that Malody twisted the rope to make Lloyd drop his own weapon which caught him and the rest of the team off guard. "Lloyd you have to learn how to adapt to fighting new weapons," Cole said watching the fight from where he was at right by Garmadon. Malody knew that Cole was right when it comes to fighting new weapons that they haven't faced before though Lloyd was handling his own. "That's right because we are trained in our specific weapons but not other weapons till we face them," Nya said knowing that she was the first one on the team to use a unique weapon. Lloyd knew that Nya, Cole, and Malody were right about learning about new weapons such as Malody's rope dart.
Malody at the moment was spinning the blade ready for attack and it was something that Lloyd noticed the movement so he got ready for the defensive. "Isn't the rope dart very similar to my nunchucks?" Jay asked when he saw that Malody was using very similar techniques that he used. "That is true but using a rope dart is used more as both a defensive and offensive weapon," Wu said as he walked outside. Wu knew that Malody had more training than the rest of the team though from what he could tell that her fighting style has been influenced by Elana who was known by the rest of the elemental alliance as Libby. It was something that it was shocking how Malody changed over the years since Wu last saw his niece. "How can a weapon such as a rope dart be both an offensive and defensive weapon?" Lloyd asked getting ready to defend himself.
"It's due to the fact that the rope can be used as a shield or a way to disarm one's opponent as I did against Lloyd," Malody said just as she threw the blade toward Lloyd. Lloyd dodged the attack before getting close to his sister. That was something that shocked Lloyd because he was expecting Malody to stop him as he did that from what he could tell based on their fight. Malody allowed her brother to get close to her to tie his hands behind his back which shocked him because he wasn't expecting it considering that Malody used the rope to disarm him earlier in the fight. "That was impressive Malody because I never thought to use the rope as a restraint to take down one's opponent," Wu said seeing that Malody was creative with her weapon. "That's because I had to adapt to use my weapon in a way that won't get me caught as an elemental master and as a ninja," Malody said as she untied Lloyd's hands and put the weapon around her waist which acted as a belt. That little detail that Garmadon and Cole noticed is that the team never used their weapons as part of their uniforms the way Malody does because their weapons couldn't be used in that way.
Wu also noticed that detail but it was more on how Malody hooked the blade through a clip on the waist of her paints. "How did you keep up your training after leaving here?" Kai asked Malody who was walking towards her water bottle. "Aunt Elana kept up my training the best she could despite having different elements which made training a bit of fun," Malody said knowing that her father and uncle wanted to know these details. Garmadon realized that Elana had trained Malody as an elemental master despite the element difference. It was something that he saw so much of Elana's influence in his daughter more so in her fighting style with how she kept moving in a fight. Wu never saw that influence because he kept seeing the changes in Malody's personality and how her fighting style should go back to what it was when she left. Though in the eyes of the team, Malody is seen as a wild card because they have never seen someone who fights like her.
Little details like that are often overlooked by people that don't pay attention to them. It was something that Malody had often spotted compared to the team because it was something that she had to pick up over the years. Theon had always been the one to watch his friend slowly lose herself to the pain of the darkness and the trauma. Even with that, Theon knew that his friendship with Malody over the years had been something that gave them hope that showed that even in the darkest moments there is light at the end. This was something that they had seen from Theon coming to terms with him being gay with Malody learning that her trauma had been a lesson that her path isn't always easy.
