~Cally' POV~
"Reagan? What are you...how did...?" I stumbled over my words, then saw her red eyes. My own eyes widened as I took in her fangs and pale skin. "You're a freaking-"
"It's not what you think! They're contacts and fake fangs and makeup. I'm not a vampire, but I had to get in here. For you. Duh," she walked over to me, twirling a key around her right index finger.
"B-but..." I stuttered, and glanced down at my palm.
"But I took a blood swear," I finally whispered, eyes filled with concern and mortification. Her eyes snapped to mine just before she could insert the key, and her mouth dropped.
"You what?" She sounded almost angry.
"I was drugged! I didn't know what I was doing! I-what are you doing? Reagan, I can't go, Reagan, quit un-cuffing me. You're gonna blow my plan."
"What plan? You're chained up. And besides, your blood swear will go away once we cut it out and cauterize it."
"Um, ow."
"You heal instantly, remember?"
"I know, but still." At this point both my arms were unlocked from the wall, and I was rubbing away the soreness.
"Let's go." Her voice dropped to a hurried whisper as we both made our way towards the door. She opened it and stuck her head out, then grabbed my wrist and rushed us up the stairs.
The same stairs that I was pushed down only a little over a week ago. I brought my arm up to shield my aching corneas from the moonlight that was flooding in from the windows. Reagan stopped abruptly and I nearly ran into her. She turned to her left and ran her hands along the stone wall until she reached one in particular, and she pulled it out. I nearly choked on my own surprise. She groped around on the inside until she apparently found what she was looking for, and the wall next to us slowly slid out of the way. I cringed, as this was no quiet task.
For the first time I took note that my palm did not throb as I walked further and further away from Anthony.
Reagan gestured me through the hole in the wall, and I didn't think twice as I ducked under some of the stones, and was suddenly in a long hallway. I heard something click, and the wall began to close again, and Reagan rushed inside, pushing me out of the way so she wouldn't be crushed. I fumbled for a second but quickly regained my bearing.
"Let's go."
I nodded and led the way, speed-walking to whatever lies ahead.
"The tunnel will come out at the back wall, we just have to remove a panel and then make a break for the woods. Draven will be there. He'll claim you, and then we can get on with our lives," she breathed, trying to keep pace with me.
"Why doesn't my hand hurt?" I asked her, not looking back.
"I don't know. What was your swear?"
"He said I'd get out of-oh. Oh. Oh. Heck yes!" I whisper-yelled. Reagan laughed a little.
"You had me worried over nothing. I was not going to be the one to cauterize your bleeding hand."
"I wouldn't have asked you to," I responded. Reagan was way too squeamish, which was why I was surprised she made it through a house of vampires sucking blood.
Let it be known that there was absolutely no light in this tunnel. That would've made it possible for me to see the wall I was coming up on, but no I ran into it face first, letting out an oof. Then, just as I was peeling my face away, dusting some pepples out of my skin, Reagan asked "what?" just a little too late, so it came out as "wha-oof," as she ran into my back and my face had, once again, come up-close and personal with a stone wall.
