I woke up from my nap with a note lying next to me. Excited, I quickly grabbed it, thinking it was from Draven.

Cally, I'm going out with some friends tonight. You know how to make your tortellini, it's in the fridge. I'll be back around eleven. Dad went out of town for business, he'll be back on Wednesday. Call when you wake up. See you later.

-Mom

Darn it. I squinted my eyes at my window, seeing it was already dark outside. Throwing my legs to the side, I got out of bed to make my dinner, boiling water and heating alfredo sauce. I yawned at the stove and sat down at the kitchen counter. Tiredly I called my mom, but she didn't pick up. I looked across the kitchen to her ringing phone and rolled my eyes. Figures. The water started boiling then, so I dumped the packet of tortellini into the pot, and set the timer for ten minutes. I blew out a puff of air before taking out a notebook to talk to Draven on.

Hello, I wrote, and waited for only about two minutes for a response.

Hello to you too

So...what are you having for dinner? I frowned at my lack of conversation starting skills.

Same thing you're having.

You're making tortellini too?

Well technically you're making it for me. All I have to do it pull it when you're done making it.

Cheater.

:)

Beeping snapped me out of my thoughts, and I hurried to turn off the stove and strain my pasta. I served myself and sat back down. I was almost done eating when I noticed another message on the paper.

You're a good cook. I rolled my eyes and finished eating.

I went to sleep later that night, exchanging a few more notes with Draven, but nothing noteworthy. I dreaded going to school tomorrow, as it meant taking time away from learning how to travel between dimensions. However, I knew that learning was inevitable, be it for being an inter-dimensional traveler, or algebraic properties, I couldn't avoid it. Falling asleep, I wondered if I would be able to get homework done quick enough to see Draven.

---------------------------

Most of school passed by uneventfully, until lunch. I opened my lunchbox and there was a note written on a napkin, like my dad used to wright. It couldn't have been him, though, because I make my lunch in the morning, and Dad was out of town. My friends looked at my puzzled expression, silently asking me to read the note out loud. So I did.

"Cally,

Just pretend like I'm right there with you at school, because I probably am. See you when you get home.

~D" I finished.

"Who's that from?" Jessy piped up.

"Um...must be from dad or something," I pretend to shrug it off, but really I can't help letting my mind race on about the note.

Does he come to school with me every day? Where is he sitting now, all the seats around me are taken. Maybe there is a school here in his dimension, too. What would he learn with a bunch of vampires around him, though? I wonder if there isn't actually a school, but maybe he goes to class with me and that's how he learns. Perhaps he turns in homework, too, and checks his answers against mine.
