It's been about 2 weeks since that charity event. A lot of work has piled up for me that needs to be processed as soon as possible.

"Deun." I called through my phone monitor.

Within three seconds she swings my door open. "Yes Doc?"

"Where's my DSM book? I need to look up some of these diagnosis." I said as I flipped though piles of folders.

"Ah, when I cleaned your desk I got the janitor to help me put it at the top shelf up there." She said as she pointed to my bookcase. "Sorry, I didn't think you'd need it. I can call the janitor down to get it for you since it's up high."

"No, it's okay. I'll get it when I'm done making piles
of folders." I said as I dismissed her with my hand.

"Hey Doc, it's half past 6 so I'm going to head out. As your long time secretary, I know there's no point of telling you to go home, but what I can say is please don't work too hard okay."

"Hmm." I replied. "See you tomorrow."

I finally finished sorting all the files and since it was past normal working hours, the janitors were probably busy cleaning all the floors. I was wearing heels anyways so I doubt I'd be that far out of reach.

I tried using my left hand to get the book and as far as I could stretch, I could touch it but not enough to grasp it

I tried using my left hand to get the book and as far as I could stretch, I could touch it but not enough to grasp it. I could only reach the first row of books but not the books on top of the shelf. I attempted again and was able to cling my fingers around the spine of the book. At this point I was very tired and my shoulder muscles were strained.

My right arm is sore and the stitches are still there on my shoulder, but they're about just ready to come off. I attempt to use my right arm to get the book as it's my dominate arm but half way through, a piercing pain radiated all the way down my back. I barely could reach the first shelf.

I winched from the pain

I winched from the pain. All I have to do it grab the book quickly. I took a deep breath and as I tried again, my fingers grabbed the book but so did another hand. The scent of this person was very familiar. Dumbstruck, I swiftly turned around and my nose sparingly brushed off the owner of the hand's nose. I could feel the breath from our mouths touch. He was that close. My face flushed into a hot flare and my breathing became noticeable.

It was a short staring pause that felt forever

It was a short staring pause that felt forever. Kai finally blinked, cleared his throat, took a step back and handed me the book. "We meet again." He said in a calm tone.

When he's not so tense, his voice is quite soothing.

I snatched the book and strutted towards my desk.

"Your arm seems to be healing quite slow." He remarked.

"How would you know what's slow and what's not." I countered. I sat at my desk and began to click on useless things on my computer to avoid eye contact.

"How would I know?" He mischievously asked. "Well, it's happened to me more than once."

"I wonder why they're that much people who go after you. You must not be very likable." I sarcastically spoke.

"Yeah it seems so. I'm also not very likable to you, and to be quite frank, you've also shot me once."

I send a gaze towards him as I only lifted my eyes away from my computer.

"Right here." He said as he pointed his hand gun gesture towards his heart with the largest grin.

I focused on his smile for the first time. He seems to be quite playful when he's not around any guards.

I scoffed in disbelief regarding his horrible sense of humor. "What brings you here anyways."

He whips a folded at my desk. "Sign it."

It's that stupid contract. I forgot all about it. "I don't need to." I stated. "I'm almost healed and as you can see I'm much too busy to haunt you over this."  I said pointing at my large piles of files. I chucked the folded back at him.

"You can leave now." I said with a long silent pause following.

He finally broke the silence as he rose from the chair. "You know, you're the only woman who keeps making me think about my next action and what I'm going to say next." He blurted.

He begins to head towards my door, "It's actually quite annoying," He vocalized, "but I like it." He remarked as he turned back around and smirked at me.

"We'll meet again soon my lady. This is kind of fun."

That last line echoed through my head for awhile. What doesn't he get about me not wanting anything to do with him? I'll make sure this was the last time I see him.
