1x01 — We Only See Each Other at Weddings and Funerals

PART III

The six paid close attention to the thirteen-year-old man-child as he prepared himself a peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich. "What's the date?" Five asked, finally broke the silence. "The exact date." He added.

"The twenty-fourth." Vanya answered. "Of what?" He probed.

"March." She clarified. "Good." He stated, placing two slices of bread on the cutting board.

"So, are we gonna talk about what just happened? It's been seventeen years." Luther said, standing up from his chair. "It's been a lot longer than that." Five scoffed, disappearing and then reappearing behind the bulky man.

"I haven't missed that." Luther huffed in annoyance.

Five reached for the bag of marshmallows from the top shelf and returned to the table. "Five, where did you go?" Jewel asked. "The future. And it's shit, by the way." He answered nonchalantly.

"Called it." Klaus chirped.

"I should've listened to the old man. You know, jumping through space is one thing, jumping through time is a toss of the dice." Five muttered to himself.

He rummaged through the fridge and retrieved a jar of peanut butter. He walked back to the table and looked up from his sandwich, noticing Klaus' interesting fashion choice. "Nice dress." He commented. "Oh, well, danke!" Klaus said, running his hands down Alli's skirt.

Five untwisted the cap and started smearing the peanut butter onto the slice of bread. "Wait, how did you get back?" Vanya asked as he sprinkled the marshmallows on top. "In the end, I had to project my consciousness forward into a suspended quantum state version of myself that exists across every possible instance of time." He articulated.

Jewel's bottom lip puckered out as she nodded her head in understanding. "Damn, Five, I'm impressed." She said, earning proud smile from him.

"That makes no sense." Diego stated. "Well, it would if you were smarter." Five quickly remarked.

Diego tensed up and got off of the table, ready to attack the boy but Luther put his hand out in front of him. "How long were you there?" Luther asked. "Forty-five years. Give or take." He answered.

Diego and Luther sat back down in astonishment. They all were. "So what are you saying? That you're fifty-eight?" Luther questioned. "No, my consciousness is fifty-eight. Apparently, my body is now thirteen again." He informed, grabbing the sandwich off the cutting board.

"Wait, how does that even work?" Vanya questioned. "Delores kept saying the equations were off. Bet she's laughing now." He said to himself.

"Who's Delores?" Jewel asked.
