Alone in the shadows

Chapter 6

Beth's POV

        My dad has just left and it's just me and Taylor in the house. I try to think of ways to calm myself down but I can't. Taylor is in the basement playing Call of Duty Ghosts at full volume and I'm in my room doing absolutely nothing. I get a text from Johnny and he wants to meet up. I tell him I'm on my way. I lock my bedroom door and stuff pillows in my bed. I play music softly on my iPod so Taylor will think I'm listening to music. Lastly, I get changed into something way more flattering and throw my other clothes on the floor to make it seem as if I changed. I'm now wearing a red tube top and acid wash jean shorts. A little different but I'm sure he'll like it. I throw on a light long sleeve sweater just in case it's cold. It doesn't have buttons so it shows off my tube top. I french braid my hair, put on my black sandals and jump out the window. I run towards Garfield Park where we decided to meet. I get there first and sit on the swings. I see Johnny coming in the distance, he has a backpack on and it looks bulky. I wonder what he has in there. He sees me on the swings and I look away pretending I didn't see him yet. He comes up to me and sits on the swing next to me. He puts his arm around my shoulder and we kiss. He says to me, "I know we just saw each other but I needed to see you again." I smile and look down at my hands. He brushes a stray hair away from my face and I look into his eyes. I feel something, it's pain. Pain coming from my shoulder. He stabbed me. I look at him and try to strike him but I miss, my depth perception is off, I can't stand up and fall to the ground. Johnny laughs at me and says, "I know you're a vampire my dear. I am a hunter and my father is going to be very proud of me. My first vampire. I struck you in the heart, you are going to die at any moment." He turns around and a huge figure is walking towards us, his father. "Ah," the man says with a deep raspy voice, "My son has found his first vampire." I struggle to speak and finally get out a "Why, Johnny?" He laughs at me and his dad sneers. Johnny says to me, "I am a hunter. I am the fifteenth generation of hunters in my family and I want to keep the tradition going. I would rather kill than shame my family and ancestors by showing mercy to any vampires. Even if they are..." He looks sad for a moment but snaps out of it. "Never mind." he says, "I just want your head on a platter. He reaches into his backpack and pulls out an old, bloodstained golden platter and a silver saw. I don't really remember what happens next but I do remember getting up, pulling out the blade from my chest and my friends running towards my in the distance.

****Elaina's POV****

        Beth is in trouble, my necklace is glowing. I have a magical pearl and sea shell necklace with a sapphire stone embedded in the shell. It holds my human and mermaid form, my powers, and alerts me if anyone of the people I love are in danger. Without it, I think I might die, I'm not sure though. It glowed deep blue and than flashed slowly. I know I'm far away from the endangered person. I know it's not my family back in the ocean because if it was my necklace would glow red. I look over at Lucy's side of the bedroom and she's laughing at Pewdiepie Youtube videos, so it's not her. I call Taylor via video chat and he picks up and yells at me for interrupting his Cod Ghosts, it must be Beth. I tell him I think Beth's in danger and show him my necklace. He gasps and runs towards Beth's room and pounds on the door, answer. I hear Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit in her room and Taylor calls her name and she doesn't answer. He breaks through the door shattering it to splinters and rips off the covers of the bed and finds pillows and no Beth. "oh my god no." He says. He shuts off her iPod and says, "Tell Lucy to get up and get to my house. Now!" Lucy hears him and shuts her computer. We dash over to Taylor's house and find him on his front porch. My necklace is blinking slightly faster and I know she is near by. We all run down the street and my necklace acts as a homing device to help us go in the right direction. We end up at Garfield Park and Taylor can see Beth in the distance, she looks pissed. She is literally flying with her hair is blowing as if it were in a wind storm and her eyes completely black, her fangs were fully out. There are two people below her and one of them is the human that she was face sucking with at the pizza arcade. We run towards her and see her drop and pick up the boy. She threw him against the man and as soon as he was on the ground he was back in the sky. Beth threw him again and this time he went farther and this time hit a tree, she picked him up a third time he went out of sight. She picked up the man and threw him too. She slowly started to sink and her eyes, hair, and teeth went back to normal. "Oops" Beth said with a red face.

****Taylor's POV****

Today it is Friday, the day of Lucy's party. My job is to distract her until Beth and Elaina are ready at the apartment. I pick up Lucy and tell her I want to hang out with her on a short walk on the beach. Yesterday she and Laina went on a huge shopping spree and Lucy's new look is amazing, don't get me wrong, she's always been amazing but now that she's not wearing black she just is so beautiful. The baby blue in her skirt makes her red hair look more red, and her gold shirt brings out the gold in her eyes. When she wore all black she looked so drab. She looks at me and I kiss her forehead. She is short compared to me and I think it is so cute. I get a text from Beth "I got potatoes for dinner." That is code for she's finished getting snacks. We created a code just in case Lucy were to see my texts. I text back "Okay good" and put my phone away. Lucy and I have been walking on the beach for thirty-five minutes. We've mostly talked about the future and what we think is going to happen and what we hope doen't happen. We turn around and start walking back towards the car in the parking lot. Just as we reach the car I get a text from Elaina, "I finished mopping the kitchen, finally. lol" That is code for the apartment is ready for the party. We drive to the building and Lucy gets out her key card to get us in. We run up the steps to see who can reach the top, I win and we are both out of breath as we enter her apartment. "SURPRISE!!!" Elaina and Beth scream. Lucy, shocked, looks at the banner above her head that reads, "Congrats on defeating your dad!" She looked so happy. For the next hour and a half we ate and played Super Mario Kart, We were always the same four characters, Beth was Dry Bones, I was Luigi, Lania was Peach, and Lucy was Daisy. We got so competitive that we started to shout and throw food at each other. I feel sorry for Lucy and Elaina because they're going to have a lot to clean up later. Beth and Elaina decided to give us some alone time and go bowling. Lucy and I decided to go to the movies. The movie we wanted to see didn't start for another twenty minutes so we had to wait. Until then we start another round of Mario Kart but right after we choose characters Lucy gets up and turns the Wii off. 'What's up, Lucy?" I ask, confused. She starts to unbutton her shirt and walks towards me. I get her drift and I don't think we're going to the movies today.
