Partners in Crime • Number 5 {ON HOLD}

'I'm starting to think you love Dolores more than me.'

Pacing towards the closed store, Five kept a tight grip on Eva. This was it, they were on a very important mission.

Get Dolores back.

Eva peered through the windows, looking in the closed shop, looking out for their friend. Five pulled her to him again as they appeared inside the store, silently infiltrating it. Letting go of her he shoved his hands in his pockets before looking around, not wanting to admit he was slightly nervous.

Eva snickered at this "She'll be here, don't worry." Earning an eye-roll from him. They split up walking through the shop, the only noise was from their shoes smacking the floor. Five grabbed a flashlight and turned it on, he then chucked one at Eva who was in a different aisle. They headed towards the mannequins that scattered the dark place, looking closely at their faces.  

Turning around, Five spotted her. A smile creeped up onto his face as he walked towards Dolores he called Eva over. Letting out almost a sigh of relief he spoke to her "It's good to see you." Eva jogged over before grinning "Damn, Dolores you look fine today."

While the two were having a heart-felt moment with Dolores, unknown figures were not to far behind the mannequin. They raised their guns, aiming at them.

Five let out a yell that scared Eva, he dragged her into cover as bullets flew through the air. He dragged her round to hide behind clothes. Unfortunately Dolores took damage from the bullets and collapsed to the floor. Peering around the corner Five cursed out "Shit, It's them."

Eva's heart was pounding in her chest, she peeked over the top of the rack before suggesting "Lets split up, I'll try an lure them to the back of the store while you grab Dolores and go." She ducked back down, staring Five in the eyes.

He shook his head not agreeing with the plan "No, it's too dangerous. You can't use your power for that long!" He tried to reason with her but Eva wasn't having any of it. Wanting both Five and Dolores out of harms way. "Go with it!" She hissed out.

Pulling up a shield she ran out into the middle, quickly chucking Dolores over to Five. The bullets pinged off her shield as she took off in the opposite direction of Five. Both masked figures turned and continued to shoot her until she was no longer visible. They turned to each other before splitting up themselves.

Five cursed to himself before packing up Dolores in a bag, he kept zipping around the store and managed to hurt one of them, all while Eva distracted the other one.

He ducked down behind cover and tried to get out of the store, but his powers wouldn't work. He vaulted over a shelf as bullets followed him.

Eva knew something was up when she was wasn't the target of the gunfire. She ran to where the two masked figures were "HEY DUMBASSES! OVER HERE!" She yelled at them, causing them to turn their attention away from Five.  He ducked into cover and let out small pants, before standing up and leaving quickly with Dolores. Trying to stop himself from going to get Eva, he knew he had exhausted his powers. He just hoped that hers would last longer.

Eva was sprinting away from the two, jumping across small shelves and dodging between mannequins. She was trying to make them run out of ammo so she could try and end them. She had reached the corner of the store and turned around, she was surrounded. Her shield beaten and battered still held a fight up against them. Sweat glossed her face as she concentrated. Bullets were starting to get through it as she became tired, only just missing her.

With one last push she forced her shield outwards to hit the two, causing the two to get flung away. She took this time to stagger through the staff only door and dragged herself to hide behind some boxes. Breathing in and out quickly, she tried to focus what was infront of her and ignore the black dots that clouded her vision. All attempts failed as exhaustion pulled her into a deep sleep, she just hoped Five and Dolores made it out ok.

Sirens had scared off the two masked assassins. Making Eva's position a little less dangerous.

After confronting Patch at the crime scene, Diego had rolled the bullet he had picked up in his hand. There had to be more, he walked to the back of the store to see racks knocked down. All away from the staff door, almost as if something had been pushed away from that spot.

He looked around before taking out one of his knives, slowly opening the door he gripped the knife tightly. Wanting to be ready for anything, but what he didn't expect was to see the girl Five had appeared with... unconscious behind some boxes. He squatted down, putting his knife away before trying to shake her awake.

"Go away." She groaned out, slowly waking up. Her muscles ached with every movement. Diego sighed before shaking her again, almost pushing her over.

"Come on kid, get up."

"Okay okay, jeez." She peeled her eyes open to look at the vigilante. "Batman?" Diego let out a long sigh "Close enough" he stood up and pulled a box over before sitting down. "What happened here?" He began to question her.

"Straight to business, I like it." Eva teased before sitting up and stretching out her limbs. "But if you want any answers, I'm afraid you'll need to buy me food." She tried to strike a deal, feeling her stomach growl. Fending off multiple bullets takes a lot out of someone. Groaning, he stood up. Giving Eva a small glare he gave in, waving his hand as a sign to follow him "Come on then." How could he not give in?

"So, which one are you?" Eva asked as she hopped into his car. Diego shoved his key in and started up the car. "Diego." He sighed before reversing out. "Diego... so tell me Diego, what's your 'thing'?" He glanced at Eva before gripping the steering wheel "I thought I was the one who was asking the questions here."  Eva hummed before looking out the window "Yeah, well I'm curious"
