JUNHEE'S POV
"How was school sweetie?" I ask my precious Eunkyung as she comes out of her classroom holding her teacher's hand. School and office hours were done at 6 p.m. so it's time to go home
"fun dad, I learned a new dance today" she says excitedly as she holds my hand
"She did amazing and even helped a friend with the dance steps" the teacher says happily as she lets go of her hand, "see you tomorrow Eun" the teachers waves at us as we leave the building
My little girl is always the best when it comes to learning new dance moves or any subject related to the arts. But is an another thing when numbers are involve
"So what you want for dinner?" I ask her as we get on the car
"Shicken" her tiny voice says
"But we had that yesterday" I complain
"Shicken daddy, Shicken" she says giggling knowing I won't refuse. And so we drive to our favorite fried chicken place and order to take home.
Once home, I send her to leave her stuff in her room as I prepare the bath for her.
She seats on the quarter fill bath to play with her toys as I seat on the floor just outside the bathroom to keep typing my day's report and e-mail back to my boss.
"Dad I'm done" I hear her and set my laptop on the floor. She's standing as I open the shower with warm water to take off the soap and bubbles. I wrap her in a towel and send her off to her room to change into her pajama.
I set up the table with the food and she comes out ready to eat
"So now tell me how was your day?" She asks me as I give her the drumstick, her favorite
"Well sweetie uncle Chan and I ate lunch together once again....and my boss Sehyoon wasn't at the office so it was really happy times" I say and she just nods. Ever since her teacher told her students to ask their parents of their day. She does ask me every night.
"I like Chan oppa...will he visit us soon?" She cutely asks me
"You've only met him once...what do you mean you like him?" I ask her and she giggles
"He played with me at the park and brought me ice cream" she says and soon sets her meatless bone on her plate
"Sweetie you need to eat vegetables also" I whine
"But I'm sleepy" she lays her head on the table
"Eat them and I'll ask Chan to come play with us this weekend" I use my friend as a bait to get my daughter to eat her broccoli and carrots and before I repeat myself she's already eating them, I just smile at myself.
We proceed to finish her homework and by 9 she's in deep sleep on her transformers blanket. Because according to her , robots were like princesses made of steel.
I send Sehyoon the email and close the laptop.
This had become my daily routine ever since I took custody of my daughter. That woman didn't want us in her life so it was much easier to keep my kid here with me.
I get up from the living room and unlock the door from the balcony. I only open it at night since I'm too scared my kid might fall. The cool air makes my dark hair strands move around. I look at the golden ring on my hand. This had being my parent's, my dad gave it to me when I told him I wanted to get marry. To the woman mother of my kid.
I now just wear it to keep noisy people away.
My dad was disappointed that I didn't keep anything traditional but told me to keep the ring until I could find the right person
"The right person.....there's no one for me" I whisper to the air as I open the can of beer I took from my mini fridge out here and take a sip. The only person most important to me in the little girl sleeping inside so even if I am to stay single. I wouldn't mind. Not at all.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
"A mixer.?!?!?!", I yell at the cafeteria as I look at Chan giving me this confuse look. We're now eating the chicken left over from yesterday and Chan brought us drinks and some choco pies for dessert
"Old man stop screaming" Chan complains, "some people from the office are going and thought it would be fun to go...you know us single casanova handsome men" he says happily and starts clapping his hands
I take a sip of my ice coffee and just shake my head, "I can't Chan...." once I say these words his expression starts to sulk
"But whyyyyyy??" He dares to asks
"My daughter, I have no one to watch her......but wait don't you know I'm marry?!" I finally come to senses
"I know you've divorced, Eunkyung told me her mom left to travel the world...and you never mention her, by the way what happened and is she going with a therapists? Are you ok?" He asks and I get up from the table. Since I sense we're being to loud.
I just make my way to the park just a street away from the firm and Chan just follows me without saying a word. I take a seat at a wooden bench close by
"Yes. I divorced two years ago. Eunkyung was a baby then just turned three so she doesn't remember much. She did went to therapy but stop once she enter kindergarten just a few months back....she knows her mom is just away" I say and let out a deep sigh. Chan expression is deep in thought and I don't say anything
"Then why keep wearing the ring" he points at it
"I just don't like when people asks where's the mom then? Or so you never got marry?" I say
He stays quiet and just nods
"Then can I go over this weekend to play with Eunkyung?" He says cheerfully
"So you won't insist on the mixer?" I ask
"Is fine.....I'll go to the next one plus you told me this morning your daughter wants me to go visit again" he says smiling
I just smile back
"Thanks..."
"No thank you since I am a guest I hope you pay for my lunch" he says and I just laugh
"So is just for free food" I say
"I could never.!!!" He gasps dramatically
"Whatever....lets go lunch is over"
And so we go back to the office.
