Chapter 2: WHAT WE'VE LOST.

The four Pevensies glanced around at the beautiful sight that surrounded them, admiring the view. Lucy glanced at Susan and smiled at her playfully. Suddenly, both of the girls ran happily towards the water, flinging off their school shoes and blazers. Peter and Edmund then joined in as they joined the girls as they splashed in the water. Peter flicked a huge wave of water all over Edmund. Edmund turned to his brother and laughed before doing the same thing. "Lucy!" Susan shouted as one of the waves took Lucy off her feet. Lucy laughed joyfully and continued to have fun in the water. Edmund couldn't believe it. They were finally back to their real home. He looked up at the gigantic rocks that stood a distance away from them, ruins surrounding it. He then started to doubt himself. Where they really in Narnia? Peter had never been happier...he was in the place he loved. He threw water at Lucy as Susan shouted his name in confusion. "Ed?" She asked, but Edmund didn't respond. "Ed!" She shouted again through a giggle. Peter then glanced at Edmund and then the rocks, and then back at Edmund. "What is it?" Peter asked curiously. Edmund turned his head to look at his brother. "Where do you suppose we are?" Edmund asked, sounding genuine. Peter looked at his brother with utter confusion. "Well where do you think?" Peter asked with a smile. They were clearly in Narnia. "Well...I don't remember any ruins in Narnia" Edmund explained as he looked back up at the ruins ahead of them. At this point, everyone stopped playing in the water and looked at the same thing as Edmund. "Why don't we go and find out..." peter suggested and all of his siblings quickly nodded.

As they climbed their way up the steep, broken stairs and grassy hills, Peter spotted a beautiful apple tree. He smiled and picked it off the tree and turned to Lucy who was following behind him. "Lucy" he said and threw her the fresh, red apple. Lucy smiled gratefully as she easily caught it in her hands. "Thanks" she said before taking a large bite out of it. It then crossed her mind that they didn't really have anything to eat. "Does anyone still have their sandwiches?" She asked as they continued to climb up the grass filled hill, almost at the top. "Well...I left mine in my bag...and I left my bag in the train station...and then I left the train station in England" he explained with a humorous smile. All three of his siblings laughed at this as they finally reached the top of the hill.

All of the Pevensies decided to split up to explore on their own, not going too far of course. Peter walked through the desert of lively trees, admiring how beautiful everything looked. Lucy made her way between some trees as she took another bit from the apple Peter had given her. Edmund was looking around some old ruins that sort of looked like pillars and Columns  that you would find in a grand castle. "This all kind of reminds me of Cair Paravel" he thought to himself as he began to smile of his memories of the glorious castle he had once lived in. Peter climbed up some broken stairs and as he got to the top, looked around at the view, putting his hands on his hips. If they were in Narnia, Peter had no idea where abouts they were. Everything in Narnia was well built and admirable, not collapsed and ancient. Edmund was now at the bottom of the decaying staircase. "Pete! See anything familiar up there?" Edmund asked. Peter sighed and shook his head. "No. All I can see are lots of trees and ocean" he concluded as he made his way back down the stairs to his brother. "Is it just me...or does this place feel really...familiar?" Edmund asked. Peter immediately nodded in agreement. "Yes...I can't help but believe that we've been here before" peter responded. "Maybe it was one of the places we visited during our last time here" Edmund suggested. Peter shook his head. "I think we would've remembered a place that was filled with ruins. Like you said, I don't remember any ruins ever existing here." He said and looked around for the girls. "Come on, let's go find Susan and Lucy" peter said and they both walked off.

Susan and Lucy were walking together but Lucy split up from Susan as she walked over to a balcony, which had clearly been half destroyed in some way. As Lucy looked out on the sea, she recognised it. Trying to figure out where she had seen this before, She turned to Susan who was a few paces behind her. "I wonder who lived here" Lucy questioned, her curiosity getting the better of her. Susan suddenly stopped walking as she accidentally stepped on something. She picked up the small, golden object and stared at it for a moment, something clicking inside her brain. "I...I think we did" she said as Lucy walked over to her and stared at the object. Edmund and Peter walked towards them. A flash of gold caused Edmunds gaze to turn to what Susan was holding. Edmund immediately recognised it as something he had once owned in Narnia. "Hey...that's mine! From my chess set..." Edmund pointed out, confused as to how Susan had found it. "Which chess set?" Peter asked as he stood next to his brother. "Well, I didn't exactly have a solid gold chess set in Finchley, did I?" Edmund stated as he took the royal chess piece from Susan's hand, examining it.
