23) DEFEATING THE EVIL

Aslan finally stopped as they arrived at the gates of the telmarine castle, which had already been forced open by the narnians.

As Aslan had said, there was a gryffin waiting for them.
Edmund and Lucy quickly hopped off Aslans back,
"Thank you Aslan" Edmund said with a grateful smile.
"You're most welcome, Edmund." Aslan said in a calm tone.

"Well we better go find Peter and Susan" Lucy said as she rushed over to the gryffin.
"Edmund...before you go into battle there is something I must tell you" Aslan quickly remembered as he walked up to Edmund.
"What is it, Aslan?" Edmund asked in genuine concern.

"the power that brought jadis back can also destroy her" Aslan explained.
Edmund glanced back at the castle,
"But Aslan, what does that mea..."
Aslan was no longer there.

Edmund sighed, knowing he'd be able to figure out aslans hint somehow.

"Come on" he said softly to Lucy as he helped her onto the gryffin.
Once they were both on, the gryffin took flight. They were so high that Edmund could see the whole courtyard. Narnian and telmarine soldiers were all fighting. Lucy knew the fighting was necessary to gain the narnians freedom, but she still hated watching violence occur, especially in a place like Narnia.

"There! Peters over there!" Edmund shouted and pointed towards a door, in which Peter had just entered.
"He's heading towards the strategy room, your highness. That's where the stairs he just went up lead" the gryffin explained.

"Drop us off at the balcony that leads to the room...quietly." Edmund ordered.

The gryffin nodded and gently landed them on the balcony, making sure not to make even the slightest of sound.

Edmund and Lucy got off the gryffin and hid behind the curtain that lead to the room that peter must be in.

Edmund suddenly hard a 'hit' noise and immediately panicked. He parted the curtains the slightest bit, to see jadis and Miraz surrounding peter.

He glanced at Lucy and they both nodded at each other, knowing what to do.

Edmund suddenly heard jadis' voice.
"This was easier than I thought" she commented as she lifted up her wand, reading to bring it down on Peter.

Edmund and Lucy suddenly burst out from the curtain. Edmund sprinted at jadis and managed to block her wand with his sword just in time.

Lucy grabbed her dagger and threw it flawlessly at Miraz, the dagger slipping through his armour and stabbing him in the stomach.

Edmund managed to push jadis back a bit as they both stood back up, facing each other.

Jadis held her wand, ready to fight whilst Edmund gripped his sword tightly in his hand.
"Pete...you all right?" Edmund questioned, still keeping his sword pointed at jadis.

"I'm...I'm fine. I just can't seem to..." peter tried to stand but ended up falling back down again.
"Get up" he finished.

Edmund was about to respond but jadis suddenly advanced on him with the wand. Edmund dodged it and went to stab her, which she also blocked.
"You're outnumbered jadis" Edmund said fiercely.

"Lucy has killed Miraz and its 3 against one...so surrender" Edmund stated whilst he glared at her.

"Make that 5 against one" Susan said as her and Caspian entered the room, weapons drawn.

Jadis smirked slightly as she twirled her wand in her hand.
"you really think 5 pathetic humans scare me?" She said.

Edmund took his chance when she lowered her guard slightly. He rushed up to jadis and plunged his sword into her stomach.
