Chapter 13 - Waiting

Y/N P.O.V.

Riding in the back of the ambulance with Ethan I felt so many emotions.  There were paramedics walking around Elijah's body trying to keep him alive. (Okay I don't really know if all this happens bc I've never ridden in an ambulance before soo 😅)  I realized that early Kate had to do this because of Jack and Corl.  And now... All I can think about is Jack and if it really was all him.  Alex was in a separate ambulance, still unconscious so no help from him.  I just sat there with Ethan, trying not to look at the almost dead body of Elijah.

When we reached the hospital we were rushed into a waiting room and both Elijah and Alex's bodies were rolled into rooms.  I say next to Kate and hugged her.

 "It's okay Y/N, Elijah is strong.  and Alex will be okay too!" I looked at her and then everyone else.

 " Don't you see?  Elijah might die because of Jack.  There is no way in any world that this doesn't have to do with him.  He broke out of the prison in the same day his house burnt down.  And Alex didn't get a giant gash on his arm from flames.  Ethan knows it too, " I say glancing at him.  He hangs his head. "It's my fault I lead that bish into your lives and now... Now Elijah's gonna die!"  Everyone comes around to hug me and tell me things like how it's not my fault.  I can't really believe any of that, Jack was my problem at first and now he's a threat to all of them.

"We don't even know it was Jack, Y/N. " Denis says trying to make me feel better.  I just shrugs and look up at the tv.  The News is on and the word of the fore has spread as quickly as it did itself.  

"Come on Y/N, let's go for a walk.  Take your mind off things.  Ethan, you come too! " Kate says standing up.  I look at Ethan who is as depressed as I am and we get up.  It was the same hospital as the double date day, but a different part of the hospital.  We walked around in silence to the gift shop.

"Hey, guys I just really want to say that I appreciate how much you care." Ethan said breaking the silence as we stepped into the gift shop.  I smiled at him and so did Kate.

" C'mon, let's pick out something for Elijah and Alex! " Kate said excitingly.  I followed her to a section with her well cards.  I actually felt happy walking around that place with two of my best friends.  It was as if everything was normal and okay.  We found a little pin with a husky on it and jokes that we could remake of and Alex could sell it as his own merch.  I looked around an area full of little figured and sentimental objects.  I found the perfect one for Elijah and bought it.  I pushed back the thought that it may very well be the last gift I'd give him.  He had to wake up. 

We bought a few other things and were about to go treat ourselves to something from the cafe when a little boy without any hair ran over happily.

"Bandi?  Bandi, Bandi!  Hi!  I'm Josh!  I watch you and The Pals all the time!  Where are they?  Are they here? " Josh looked around frantically and we all chuckled.  I looked up at who I assumed was his mother and smiled.

"Hi, I'm sorry about that.  Josh just got a little excited!  It's try nice to meet you!  Whenever Josh has to go I'm for an appointment, or if he doesn't feel well, he always watches you."  her smile turns into a frown and I look at Josh's hairless head.  Cancer.

"On its alright Mrs.-" Ethan starts then high -fives Josh who was now right next to Ethan's leg.

"Kay."

" Mrs. Kay.  It's always nice to find fans!  How old are you, Josh? " He says and Josh held up Nine fingers.           "Nine, wow!  Hey why don't you go over and pick out a little plush toy from that five dollar stand, and I'll buy it for you!" Josh beans and his mother watches him run over to the stand.

"Oh, you don't need to do that.  Josh will get through and, well, I'm sure you've noticed his problem..."

" Don't worry Mrs. Kay, we don't know how hard it must be for you but we know he'll get better.  It's our gift to him. " I say and she smiles at me.

"I believe I've seen you before in some videos Josh watches.  You are?"

" I'm Elijah's girlfried, Y/N.  And my best friend Kate. " I say pointing to Kate who was helping Josh pick out the perfect plush.  Mrs. Kay nodded slowly then turned to Ethan.

"You must be here for a reason, is everything okay?" She asks and I suck my cheeks in, holding back the temptation of tears.

" Actually, Mrs. Kay everything is going to be alright.  We don't want our fans worrying, let alone Josh, but our house caught on fire a few hours ago. We are here for Elijah who took in a lot of smoke.  You may hear about it on the news but please don't let Josh worry. " He said and Mrs. Kay touched her chest.

"I'm sorry.  All I know is that this is the best day of Josh's life right now.  Thank you for doing what you do online and for caring for your fans. " Josh ran over with Kate holding a plush cat.  Even though it was a ginger color, he vowed to name it "Sir Meows A lot The Second".  After snapping a picture with him and promising he'll tell The Pals about him Ethan was down and ready to go.

"Thank you." Mrs. Kay said, turning to go with Josh hugging her side.

When we got back to the waiting room we told everyone about Josh and his cancer.  I honestly felt better, and was starting to except that everything would be okay.  But then a nurse walked into the room with a sad expression on her face.

"Who is here for Elijah Peter Best?" We all stood up and she just frowned at us.  What now?
