(Y/n)'s P.O.V.Everything was quite confusing. One second...I was hanging from a tree with a witch trying to eat me...and the next, Tomoe's my familiar. He gently places me on the ground as I stare at him with wide eyes. I turn away. Tomoe is going to kill me!! Well, wait, he can't really do that-but what will I tell Nanami? She did give me that advice so is this even my doing, after all? I'll have to find some way to-
"You old hag!!! You've ruined everything!" Tomoe yells at the witch.
She cowers in the bushes. "How could you treat a poor old lady like this?" she pouts.
Tomoe rolls his eyes with a sigh. I walk to his side.
"Tomoe," I say, and he turns to me with a glare on his face, "Let's go back to the shrine."
Tomoe's glare stays prominent, but he obeys.
"Hey-" I start to say, but he cuts me off.
"Don't talk. I am seething with anger right now. I can't believe I have to serve a lowly girl like you!"
I just roll my eyes and we bicker all the way back to the shrine.
~Time Skip~
The shrine comes into view and I see Nanami out on the porch. She runs to us and throws her arm around me. "I'm so glad you're alright!" she cries.
I pat her back. "Thank you for worrying about me, Nanami," I say with a smile.
Nanami lets go of me and turns to Tomoe. "Looks like you became her familiar, huh?"
He glares at her as she gives him a sickeningly sweet smile. Not wanting to see his face for another second, I stomp toward the shrine.
Nanami follows me. "Hey, I'm sorry you had to kiss him. But look at the bright side: at least now we can force him to do all the shrine work." Nanami says with a smirk.
Tomoe's ears droop and a shadow falls over his face. "Girls...they are evil," he mutters under his breath.
Nanami loops her arm in mine and we go to the kitchen, leaving Tomoe behind to mope.
"Nanami, I can't believe you tricked me into making him my familiar." i say, pressing my hand over my face.
"About that...I'm really sorry. But it was the only thing I could think of in the moment."
"It's alright. It's not so bad,"
"So, what are you the God of?" she asks.
"I don't know. I didn't even know I was a God until today. Maybe I can ask the shrine spirits..."
Timeskip~
After Tomoe cooks us dinner, everyone goes to bed. We are all exhausted. I head to Nanami and I's room and nearly collapse on my futon. Nanami bids me good night and we turn out the light.
I close my eyes, but despite how tired I am, sleep won't come. My mind is racing. Mostly I'm thinking about Tomoe. There is something about him...
*Creak*
I hear someone come in through the door. I desperately try to calm my heart rate. It could be no one other than Tomoe, right? What is he doing in here? His soft footsteps stop at my futon and I hear the rustle of fabric. I'm guessing he's kneeling down beside me.
He stays still for a while. I try to pretend like I'm sleeping. I nearly gasp when his fingers graze my face, brushing my hair behind my ear. This gentleness...it can not be from a cruel man such as him, can it?
