Everyone needs to write at some point, whether it's a resume, a progress report, an essay. Don't be afraid to make yourself write! It will help you in the long run if you write often. I'm not saying to publish everything you write, because we all know that we make mistakes, but just write.
I have a busy life, so what I do is put myself to sleep by writing in my head. I just pretend I'm typing into here, and go from there.
Another way is to keep a journal or diary. It doesn't have to be your life story, but it helps show you how you are progressing, and how a plotline progresses.
One way I do this is through prompts, which I found like ten books of them in a reading list on my profile. I write prompts on another of my stories, if you need ideas.
Do whatever works, but make sure you write!
