The weekend rolled around much quicker than Beca would have liked. Beca loved weekends. She was granted two days where she could do absolutely nothing with her wife or do something special with her wife. It was those days that Beca appreciated and realised just how much in love she was with the redhead and how lucky she was to still be with her. Chloe was her everything and she loved spending time with her. Chloe always came first and Beca always came first. They were a match made in heaven. However, the couple's usual relaxing weekend didn't go as planned since Chloe agreed to go to James' marathon competition.

Chloe was having a great time since she loved the beach and also watching people compete in marathons, which she thought was impressive but Beca, on the other hand, was hating it. She didn't like the beach because of the harsh ocean breeze, the sun, the sand that got in everything, and of course, the freezing cold water that was infested with all sorts of living creatures that would eat you alive. So, no, Beca didn't like the beach but she always went for Chloe but this time, she felt like she was going for James and that she was third-wheeling Chloe and her ex. The artist tried to put on a brave face but it was hard and unfortunately for her, it didn't go unnoticed by Chloe.

"Please, Beca," Chloe said.

"What?"

"You know what. I know you don't want to be here but this is fun."

"Fun for you maybe. Watching your ex strut around with seawater glistening his half-naked body..."

"Beca," Chloe sighed. "Please," she begged.

"I'm sorry, Chlo, but how was this meant to be fun for me? We're here watching your ex. Your ex!"

"Exactly, he's my ex and you're my wife. I think I can tell the difference."

"It's not about that. He checked you out and he's always checked you out whenever he sees you. His smile couldn't have gotten any bigger if he tried when he saw that you showed up today."

"We're still friends, Beca, and that's alright."

"No, it's not! It's NOT alright. You're my wife and I don't want you associating with any of your ex's, especially your ex-finaceé!"

"I don't want to do this with you right now. I just want to have a good time, okay? And if you can't do that, even for me, then you should go."

"What?"

"It's not a threat or anything like that, it's just that I want to have a good time and you know I love the beach. I've always found marathons interesting and impressive. I could never do it but it's amazing to watch. It's a skill and I find it entertaining. But, if you don't want to be here then you can go. I'll tell James that you got called into work or something and he'll understand."

"Oh no," Beca shook her head. "I am NOT leaving you alone with him."

"What has he done to you? Seriously, what?"

It was lucky that Beca and Chloe were sitting in a secluded area that was away from the massive hoards of people that came to watch the competition.

"He's your ex-fianceé - that's my problem."

"But he hasn't done anything to you."

"He had you before me!"

"And so did a few other people! We've been over this!"

"He's your ex-FIANCEÉ, Chloe. That means something."

"Beca, listen, he's not my husband and he never was and yes, he was on the way but I soon realised that I didn't love him and that I couldn't marry him. I met you and fell in love with you and married you. We've been together for years and we're going to be together for more years to come. Please, don't let him come between us. He's actually a nice guy and he hasn't done anything to you. So come on, let's just enjoy the day alright?" Chloe snuggled up to Beca, wrapping her arms around the brunette's waist and rested her head on her shoulder.
