My sleep is interrupted by the buzz of my phone. I am fussy when I hear Todd's voice telling me that he's right outside the apartment, waiting and that it is 6:38am.
Then he hangs up without leaving me the time to answer.
At first I can't understand what he's talking about, but then it strikes me.
I suddenly realize the reason why Todd is here.
Yesterday night I fell asleep exhausted and forgot to set the alarm for early this morning as we had planned to go hiking all together at 6:30 am.
I text him that I'll be downstairs in a few seconds.
I immediately stand up from my bed and rush over to the closet. I pick up the first sport clothes I see, then I grab a sweater and I get to the kitchen.
I find Camila waiting for me while she's eating a banana.
I tell her we are late, but she calms me down telling me we are perfectly on time.
My phone confirms that Todd was kidding me. I shake my head slowly.
Camila is coming with us too this time and I'm very happy that she finally gets to meet the whole group.
She only knows Jeff, Matt and Zane for now. I am sure that with her kind attitude she will make a great impression on my friends.
We leave our apartment talking and as we climb down the stairs she asks me to tell her something particular about everyone in the squad so that she can imagine how they are before she meets them.
As soon as we are on the sidewalk I see Jeff's suv waiting for us.
They have parked next to the small public garden on the right side of our condo.
'Good morning ladies ' Todd greets us as we get in the car. He is riding shotgun and I see his eyes staring at me, waiting for my complain for his previous joke.
I just punch him on his shoulder and we both laugh. Jeff smiles and Cami seems confused.
'How is it guys? Todd this is Camila my roommate by the way' I introduce her to him.
'Hi Camila, nice to meet you' he says turning on his seat to shake her hand.
'Nice to meet you too! ' Cami replies promptly.
A few seconds later Jeff starts the engine and we are on our way.
I see Todd raising the volume of the radio. There's a song that I personally hate, but the whole group loves it and they are always playing it.
I don't even remember the title to be honest.
Todd and Cami start dancing and singing along. Jeff stays calm and keeps his eyes on the street.
I can tell he has something on his mind.
Jeff and I haven't really been talking lately. We have had only some small conversations.
Matt makes sure we are never left alone and I can't blame him.
As we arrive in the parking space Matt, Scott and Joe are already there.
I instantly go towards Matt, followed by Cami, and I kiss him. I introduce Cami to Scott and Joe and we start the hike.
