One week later
I put my jacket on as I get out of my economics class.
The school's cafeteria is not too crowded today and I easily reach the back of the building to meet Aria and have lunch with her.
The past week I have neither heard from Matt nor have I seen him.
I've been working on isolating myself from the rest of the world and that's something I've always been good at.
I avoided every contact with the squad, because I'm clearly a coward and I wouldn't know how to face Matt. Leave alone Jeff.
I just spent some quality time with Aria, and Cami when she wasn't at school or at art class.
Aria is on her phone at our usual table under the cafeteria's canopy and she smiles at me as I sit next to her and take a salad out of my bag.
She hangs up and looks at me. She probably guesses from my lost expression that I don't feel like talking and she remains silent.
She finishes to eat her tuna sandwich and I hear her going through her backpack.
A second later she places some homemade biscuits in front of me.
This has become our new heartwarming tradition and I can't complain. They are delicious.
I smile back at her and as I am about to ask her about her day I feel my phone buzzing in my right pocket.
I take it out to find with my big surprise a text from Matt.
'Hi V. I just want to talk. Let me know when you are free'
I can't believe at my eyes. Aria sees the shock on my face and grabs my phone from my hands to read the message.
I had almost lost all hopes after a week of waiting. I instantly text him back with Aria watching me typing from over my shoulder.
'In an hour if you can' I send it. It's finally happening.
I rehearse what I'm going to say once again and my ideas are pretty clear, but I'm worried about hearing Matt's point of view on this whole situation.
And more specifically I'm not sure I want to know what he thinks about Jeff and I.
'Meet me at my apartment' he instantly replies.
I close my phone and look at Aria.
She's happy that Matt and I have finally the chance to make things right.
We both know that this can either end up romantically or with me crying over the end of my relationship.
I am restless on the bench and she tries to calm me down while encouraging me to eat a biscuit.
'Chocolate is a great medecine' is one of her favourite lines.
Twenty minutes later we are getting into Aria's car.
She is driving me there as Cami accompanied me to school with her car this morning.
I'm pretty sure they secretly agreed on being my full-time drivers because I have been looking too distracted lately and they don't trust me.
