Matt's POV

I ring the bell knowing that Zane will be opening the door.

Jeff is with Virginia and Todd must still be out because his car is not in the driveway.

Maybe I should have gone somewhere with him earlier as I had planned to.

Zane opens the door greeting me excited but his big smile fades away when he sees that I'm not in the mood right now.

I have all his attention.

'Matt what's that face?' he asks confused.

'Zane, you gotta help me out with this... I don't understand how I'm feeling' I say speaking the truth.

'Baby what happened? ...Come sit down' he says worried, walking into the kitchen to grab two beers.

'Jeff... ' This name comes out as a whisper.

His eyes meet mine and I read confusion and surprise in his.

'What about him, mate?' He looks suspicious.

'There's something between him and V. I cannot bear seeing them together and I have never felt this way before. angry and insecure! ' I am out of breath as I finish my sentence.

He looks at me nodding and we seem a psychologist and his patient for a second.

'It's simply called jealousy Matt. It happens to everyone. You like V and seeing her with someone else can be tough. I'm sure there's nothing you should worry about'

'No, you don't get it. They were there sitting in the kitchen and I was practically next to them on the couch, and there was... I don't know... this chemistry between them'

'Naah... Matt, come on! Don't you see the way Virginia looks at you? You have to be more self confident!'

'I really hope so. He's still there. who knows what they are doing..'

'Don't say that! Virginia would never and you know that for sure'

'I have to calm down' I trust her, he is right.

Zane hands me the beer. He knows that that's one of the few things that can calm me down.

I make sure I don't drink too much as I have to drive home, and after a while I decide to leave, because I wouldn't want to run into Jeff who must be on his way home by now

I get in my car and in ten minutes I am back home. I immediately go to bed, asking myself if I should text V or not.

It's not her fault. She did not want Jeff to stay earlier, but I get that she really needed help that I could not give her.

Too bad that my eyes close and I don't manage to take a decision.

I wake up the next morning to the sound of my ringtone. I don't check who's calling because I don't want to open my eyes, so I just pick up.
