Chapter 39: don't be so cute!

We're heading to the beach as it was only a walking distance from our house. The idea of riding the bicycle doesn't work. So, we leave it behind the yard while Emmanuelle brings her skateboard. Yes, she's riding it and she knows how to. While we are walking, Shannon was pulling her as she was giggling playfully.

"Wait, hold my hand Kate,. Please." she said, offering her left hand while Shannon was holding her right hand. I grab her hand tightly and we pull her softly but suddenly she slides a bit and nearly to fall down.

I gasped but Shannon was nearly shouting. Really, my heart pops a little on that.

"Oppss.. That was close." she said as she raises her two fingers on us, gesturing peace and she just smile guiltily.

Me & Shannon was just chuckling at the same time a little nervous. Who would not be? She was nearly to fall. What if she could break a limb, a leg? My god, Jenna will kill us and Jonathan.

"Just don't,.. We must don't do that again!" I widen my eyes looking at her.

"Okay, we will be careful next time." she said as she grab the board and just carry it.

"no.. There's no next time on that. That was dangerous." I said strictly. I felt like I'm being a mother for her even though in this kind of little situation just to protect her and don't want anything to hurt her.

Shannon was just chuckling at my attitude.

"Okay Kate. I'm sorry." Emmanuelle apologize smiling at me sweetly. I smiled back.

"Yes, here we are.!!" Shannon squealed excitedly.

We both walk through the sand and found a place to sit. Emmanuelle left the board beside me and gone playing with Shannon on the sand.

These side of the beach was quite and not so crowded. Few people was just passing by and it's quite.

I was just watching Shannon and Emmanuelle while I was sitting on the sand feeling it under my toes as the sun heated my skin. I feel calm and relax though it release a little stress in me. I love it her when I visit this place. This place is one of my sanctuary when I'm down.

"Hey!! Kate!! Join us. Don't be lazy." Shannon shouted waving her hand calling me.

I can hear Emmanuelle's giggle as she forms some mountains of sands. I walk towards them and joined them.

"Can we go there?" Emmanuelle asked pointing to the shore.

"sure! Let's go.!" Shannon said as she held Emmanuelle's hand and walk to the shore.

Shannon was so bad. She called me to join them but then they've to go now that I was already in front her. I thought I was the mother here? Why she was always escorting my child.?

"Shannon!!" I shouted stomping my feet on the sands as I walk towards them. Mouthed her that 'I'm the mother'.

"What!" She said looking back at me.

I eyed her evilly, pouting my lips on her.

"Why are you leaving me, always?" I said.

"Wow, acting like a child Kate? I thought she's the kid here?" she said pointing down at Emmanuelle which is now playing with the waves.

"Stop talking there!! Can you two join me here?!!" Emmanuelle said splashing at us the salt water.

"Ah... You want to do that huh.." I said as I ran after her splashing the water into her face. She laughs and do the same to me.

"Hey girls picture!!" Shannon shouted pulling her phone in her pocket. Getting some picture of us while we were playing at the water.

We played at the water as we are both wet and soaked. But Emmanuelle was still laughing and giggling even though I pulled her to get out of the water. She was enjoying playing. I can see and feel it. As I was chasing, running to her and when I caught her tickling her side. Looking into her face while she was screwing her nose and wiping her face. That was adorable when she does it.

"Kiddo that's enough. You're already wet & we better go home because we are not ready to blame if you will have an asthma attack again." Shannon said sounded like a mother.

I chuckled. " yes, mom!" I rolled my eyes as I was holding Emmanuelle's hand and I looked at her playfully.

She was just laugh and nod at me. Maybe she knows that she has to obey what Shannon said earlier. I must too.

"Shan! Take us a shot here." I said as I knelt down to Emmanuelle's side. As our face are so close. She stick out her tongue, crossing her eyes as well as I did also. I laugh at her.

"Okay, I want you to be serious, not that serious but not funny pose." Shannon said sounded like a photographer on us.

"Sure, like this?" Emmanuelle said wrapping her arms around my neck and and face Shannon smiling sweetly. I cupped her face and wrinkling my nose to her, well she did it also then as I let go of her face she quickly kissed my cheek. Not once but more times all over my face. I was surprise, I'm stunned at that time. She was giggling doing it as I widen my eyes.

"That was my love attack!" Emmanuelle said giggling as her arm was still wraps around my shoulders.

Love attack? It means she does love me. Yes, my child do love me. I can't deny the feeling I have now. It was so light to be with her all the time. Her bubbly personality will infect you that you can't remember any troubles you have.

"I got all that and it's so cute, here." Shannon handed me the phone as I was looking at some pictures of us.

"Awwww... That's cute. The two of you." Shannon awed at us pointing on the pics.

There's no words that manage to get out of my mouth. I've just eyed Shannon holding my tears. She was just nod at me, understanding what I feel now. I was on the verge of telling her but I can't now.

"can we go home. I'm starving." Emmanuelle whispered and giggled. Interrupting us.

As we both got home around 11:30 am.

"I will change first!" Shannon said headed to our house while I left with Emmanuelle in front of their house.

"You can go change also Kate." Emmanuelle said sweetly looking up to me. Our eyes meet again.

I get a little unfocused if that happens. Its like I don't know what to say. That I'm like hypnotized by her.

"Kate?? Kate??" She said snapping her fingers.

I blink and look again to her face. " oh.. Ah...no... I'll be at your side." I said but I don't know what and where did I got those answer.

"You're day dreaming??" She laughed at me. "I'm going to be okay. If you're finish to change you can come back here." she added.

"So, if that what you want sweetie. Are you sure you'll be okay for awhile?" I said sweetly.

"Yeah, and I like it when you call me sweetie Kate." She giggled and smirk.

"Don't be so cute Emman!!" I chuckled turning around and walk toward to our house as she also get inside to their house also.
