Starlight's POV-
My teleportation spell wasn't performed correctly and ended up teleporting us over ground instead of on it. We all appeared out of thin air and fell not too far to the ground. I tried getting us somewhere out of the cave and the first place I could picture was back at the top of the staircase. We said 'oof' as the crash down felt like it paralyzed us. We all sat up, Trixie who had hit her head was a little dizzy and couldn't keep her head straight but shook it off and was fine.
"Sorry..." I said.
"What in the name of Celestia was that?!" Trixie shrieked.
"They're still in there!" Sunburst said.
I shakily got up and walked over to the edge of the raven and looked in. My head still hurt from my spell breaking in the cave so my vision was a little blurry. I didn't see the hooded guy coming for us, indicating that it must've stayed in the cave since we left.
"We can't go back in there," I said turning around. "I don't know who that was, and it didn't seem like the kindest thing in the world."
"Ya think?" Trixie said snobbishly.
"Well, what now? We can't just leave them there," Sunburst said standing up.
He held his hand out to help up Trixie. She took it and stood, brushing off her knees.
"Okay, I think that we should get back to the castle, and maybe think of a plan," I suggested.
Just as I finished, we heard a crack of thunder in the sky. We all looked up at the gray clouds slowly forming together. Rain suddenly came falling down.
"Oh come on!" Trixie said.
"Wait!" Sunburst quickly spoke.
He took his hands and started to form a spell of some kind. Suddenly, an umbrella formed in between his hands and shot up, becoming a big enough cover from the rain for all three of us. It was made of his magic, so it was orange and see-through. I smiled, very impressed with Sunburst's spell.
"Woah..." Trixie said in awe. "I really should've practiced more magic."
Though our hair and clothes were still wet, Sunburst's umbrella spell thing kept us dry.
"I've been learning it for awhile," Sunburst said. "Just in case I ever got stuck in the rain unprepared."
"Well I'm glad you thought of that!" I said happily.
The castle was dry and warm, drastically different from the environment we had just come from. We told Spike what had happened. He was worried about Twilight but stayed calm. We all sat in the library. Our hair was still a little wet. I just used a spell Twilight taught me to dry our clothes. Sunburst was tirelessly flipping through a book. Eventually, he shut it and said:
"Nothing."
"Still can't find that spell?" I asked.
"No! Never in Equestria have I seen a spell that can turn a frickin human into stone! This is literally failing my entire life's research!" Sunburst said, very upset with himself.
"Well, it might be a forbidden spell?" I suggested.
He looked at me, giving me a look as if I was acting dumb because it's like he hadn't already studied forbidden magic.
Trixie laid her head in her hand that was resting on the desk she was sitting at. She was thinking about something.
"I can't help but think," she said. "That magic was almost like the Alicorn Amulet I used to enslave Ponyville."
Sunburst turned around in his chair and looked at her like she'd grown another arm.
"I've heard of that. Thought about getting it myself when I enslaved my old village," I said.
Sunburst looked at me.
"Have both of you enslaved some kind of community before?" he asked concerningly.
"Let's just say that you're the most innocent one out of the three of us," I said with a smile.
Sunburst didn't say anything. I could tell what he was doing, though. Deep inside he was questioning why he was hanging out with ex villains. I just rolled my eyes.
That's when Trixie got a look in her eye like she had just forgotten something. She reached in her pocket and took out a piece of folded up paper.
"Oh, and I think it would be good to mention that I saw a note fall out of the person's cape thingy and I grabbed it," she said, holding the note up with her magic.
"You just NOW decide to tell us this?" I asked standing and grabbing the note.
Sunburst got up and walked over behind me. Trixie stood up and looked over my shoulder. Gently, I unfolded the note. I read it aloud:
"Restaurant Row in front of Jojo's Thursday night or else the deal is off. They're ready in case their friends come."
"And this came out of the hooded guy's pocket?" I asked.
"Yeah, I grabbed it right before we teleported out," Trixie said.
"So is this like a note saying that the guy's gonna meet someone there?" Sunburst asked. "And what does it mean by 'they're ready if their friends come'?"
"And why Restaurant Row?" I asked.
"Here it is," Spike said from behind.
We all looked behind us at Spike with Twilight's laptop's screen turned around to us on the other side of the desk. It was terrifying how fast this kid could get something for someone. I asked Spike about it one day and he said that it was just the messenger senses.
On the screen was a website for Restaurant Row. It said a special event was happening on Thursday.
"Couples night on Thursday," I read aloud.
"Bring your lover to walk through the street and enjoy food from the businesses," Sunburst read.
"Waiters and Waitresses will be serving samples from around the street," Trixie read lastly.
I was confused. There were so many questions. Who wrote the note? Was it real? Who was 'they're' referring to? Why would they want to meet during a couple's night in Canterlot?
"Think of it," Spike said. "There's gonna be a lot of people, so lots of places to hide in case anyone tries to stop them."
Spike had a good point.
"We don't even know what this is for! How do we know if it's real?" Sunburst said.
"We don't, and that's exactly why we should try," I argued.
Sunburst stopped himself from saying something and instead just looked away.
"I think this is all hogwash!" Trixie snapped. "We almost get killed by someone in a hood, find a weird letter and suddenly we're going to a couple's night in Canterlot!"
"Trixie, you said that last time you had to help me with something like this," I said.
"And yet I still believe in that statement! All this is a bunch of--"
"Trixie!" I snapped.
Trixie stopped and looked at me, sucking in her lips.
"Look, I know this is crazy," I started. "This whole situation is dumb, and is happening really fast. Trust me, I know. But we can't just think about how unreal this is, we're trying to save people here!"
Trixie didn't say anything. Sunburst was the first one to speak. He let out a sigh and said:
"Fine, I'm in," he said with a tired smile.Trixie hesitated for a minute.
"Though I very much dislike the people we're saving," Trixie gave a small smile at me. "I'll do it for you, Glimglam."
I smiled warmly. I had some good friends, and no one could change my mind.
