Mew's POV
I heave the box up into the car. It was moving day and my dad and I were continuously walking up and down the stairs to the apartment. It's been around a month and a half after the break in. Ten dates of my dad and Tony is what it took to convince him to move The sun is getting ready to set but it was still blazing hot. I reach over and grab another box, but instead of me going up, I went over. I lay on the ground for a few seconds, breathless. My dad walks over and looks down at me.
"Are you ok," my dad asks, holding in chuckles. "Whatever happened, could you not lift the box?"
I felt the urge to either hit him or flip him off. But, I was already in enough trouble as it is. So I'll give him a head start. I sit up and see that the box was held down by some of Tony's tech
"Did you do this?"
"I... plead the fifth," he says.
"Really, that's your defense? Be careful, I will take you down."
He bursts into a laughing fit. I stand up and pull more on the box, there's a strange sound and it comes up. My dad stops and stares at me as I load the box into the car.
"You sure you want to start something sweetheart?"
I nod, he smiles at me and says;
"Let's go."
I smile and go back up to the apartment. I get a soda from the fridge, but just before I open it, my dad comes in. He leans on the doorway, makes a sound of annoyance and I put the soda back.
"Are you gonna keep me on this diet forever?"
"Until summer is officially here, it's still only spring."
I groan and get a cup from the counter instead. I knew it was a lie, it wasn't even spring and my dad isn't a person to accept change. I was about get a drink of water but stop, thinking why I was only allowed to drink water. The fact that it had happened proved that I wasn't normal. I hated the feeling of not being normal. I place the cup down, not wanting to feel that way anymore and go to get another box. My dad doesn't seem to notice the change in my attitude. I slip past him and walk to my room. I didn't have many boxes, by that I mean only one. So, it didn't really surprise me when there weren't any boxes left when I entered my room. I walk to the window and sit under it. Happily accepting the feeling of exhaustion over the feeling of unworthiness. I lay my head against the wall about to fall asleep, I feel something warm on my head. The warmth of my dad's hands feels comforting, I lean into my dad.
"C'mon, you'll get a crick in your neck if you sleep like that," He whispers, pulling me into a carry on his hip.
Dad carries me to the living room, I feel something go under my head as he lays me down. I hear the TV turn on and I start to drift off. But my brain won't allow a normal sleep, a thought enters my head that makes me bolt straight up right. The thought automatically clears my mind though. I look at my dad, he gives me a look of suspicion. I just start laughing hysterically.
"I'm gonna be completely honest," I say. "I have no idea what just happened."
He bursts out laughing and falls off the couch, onto the coffee table. He mutters out three curses as he stands back up.
"Dad! Language!"
"Sorry, sorry," he says. "Hey, do you want to hear something funny?"
"What is it?"
I get up and sit, criss cross, on the couch next to him.
"When your uncle Bucky and I were around your age, we tried to run away."
"How is that funny?"
"Let me finish," he says, already laughing. "So anyway, we bought train tickets and when we were on the train, two men sat down across from us. We look up and see our fathers, staring straight at us. All they said though, was, 'where you boys headed?'.... 'Uhm Paris.'"
"Paris, why?" I say, giggling.
"We heard that girls were allowed to show their ankles."
"Have you seen the girls around here?"
We burst out laughing.
"Well, we had seen cartoons..."
"Wait, cartoons?"
"You know the animated stuff on TV, have you never seen a cartoon?"
I shake my head. His eyes go wide and he starts flipping through the TV channels. Until he finds a channel with a rabbit on it, he clicks it. It's something called looney tunes, it seems like a kiddie show. I don't care though, it's funny.
My dad falls asleep in a few episodes, I take this time to get up and snag my dad's car keys. I also grab a mini bag of flour and head out to my dad's car.
