*Cap's POV

Mew is still reluctant to trust me completely and she still flinches whenever I touch her. She acts as if she's never been loved before in her life. I hate that, I want to protect her. I look at her and I can see it, I can see all the pain and abuse, but I can also see strength and kindness.
I walk to her room to check on her, it's eleven o'clock at night. I had been on a mission and Mew had started school two weeks ago and every night she would be asleep by at most nine. I always check in on her when I get home late, but when I peer my head in her door I see her shaking. I walk to the side of her bed and feel her head, she doesn't have a fever but she is still shaking. I can't tell if she's just cold or coming down with something. She stirs, her eyes opening slightly.
      "Dad?"
"It's just me baby girl." I say.
"I can see that, but I also see a banged up Captain America." She says, sitting up.
She hops off the bed, leading me to the bathroom. She turns on the faucet, grabs a washcloth, runs it underneath the faucet, and starts patting the bloody spots on my face. Her eyes showing worry.
"What did I do to deserve you?" I say, squeezing her hand.
She smiles and just continues to wipe the blood off my face. It doesn't take very long until she finally talks.
"Dad promise me something." She says, an extremely serious tone in her voice.
"Yeah sweetheart, of course." I say.
"Try to come back home." She says.
A few tears drop from her eyes.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean... when you go on missions, for the lab, try to come back home. I want you to come home." She sobs.
"I'm always gonna come back to you, no matter what." I reply, putting my hands on her face, wiping her tears away
"Promise?"
"I promise."
She smiles through the tears and hugs me. I'm glad to have her here. I've always wanted a daughter but surprisingly not a wife, I've just never been good at relationships.
"You wanna sleep in my bed tonight?" I ask.
"I would but I have school really early tomorrow morning and you need your rest." She says.
"It's no problem baby girl. I could start doing actual dad stuff, like making you breakfast and waking you up. Plus, I sleep better when I know you're alright." I say, fatherly love filling my heart.
"Ok, but let's get this blood off your face and fix you up though."
It only takes a few minutes but she gets me all fixed. I laugh at myself a little, the fact that I was having my daughter take care of me. It was cute to me. She yawns and leans against my chest, obviously tired.
"Was school rough today?" I ask, dumbly.
She nods as I pick her up. She's still extremely lightweight, it even feels like she's slightly underweight. It makes it easier to carry her though. I lay her down on the bed and cover her up.
"Plus I have to go to a work thing tomorrow anyway." I say, while taking my shoes and pants off.
I turn to see her half asleep, but I can tell she wants to say something. I look at her expectantly.
"Umm actually, you're gonna ride with me and uncle Tony tomorrow. How I know that is he told me." She says.
"Ok." I say, tired. "Is your school close?"
     "Yeah sorta." She say, tired.
I decide to let her comment slide since she's tired and we have to get up early. I guess it's time that dad training starts.

*Mew's POV

I'm so dead tomorrow, we all decided to tell my dad about the Avenger thing. At least I have a friend that's close to my age. His name is Peter Parker and he's really nice to me.
     The first day was tough until I met Peter. At first I was alone in a classroom, Tony was out talking to someone, Peter actually. I was laying my head on my table when someone sat next to me. I looked up and saw Peter. He introduced himself and thought I was joking when I told him mine. Then Tony came in and said;
"Actually you're name was supposed to be Muriel. So you can call her that."
"What?" I asked.
"Your dad told me that he liked that name and that he wanted to name his kid that if he had one. I'll explain after school."
Me and Peter just looked at each other and sat down to prepare for the worst. So the first day was mostly orientation and getting to know everybody. Turns out my dad had spilled his guts about his family that he wanted when they got him drunk.
The second day was a little tricky, three classes were normal, science, math, and social studies. Though the others were strange, powers training lasted for two classes then fight class. The fight class wasn't too difficult, it was just the basics. The second week was when we started training for actual missions. But then they decided to bring my dad in. I guess I'll deal with it tomorrow. I'm just so tired from today, I need sleep.
I feel my military watch go off, my alarm. I slide out of bed as quiet as possible, trying not to wake my dad up. I go to my room and get dressed in a red baseball tee, jeans, and a sweatshirt, my shoes are next to the door. I go to the kitchen and hear my dad get out of bed. I continue to get stuff out for breakfast. He comes out and chuckles.
"Shouldn't I be doing that." He says.
I just chuckle and give up, letting my dad make the rest of it.

*Cap's POV

The school was apparently starting late so Mew got to stay with me and Tony. Then Natasha shows up and grabs Mew but I grab her shoulder because I don't want her to leave.
"Mew, why don't you skip school. Ya know, hang out with dad today." I say.
"I don't know Cap," Tony interrupts. "Some things may not be exactly kid safe."
"Oh then have fun baby, we'll hang out another time." I say, giving her a kiss on the head.
She flinches, but smiles an awkward smile, that was the first time I kissed her. I forgot her reaction to affection. She hugs me though and then waves me goodbye.

*Mew's POV

"So, you ready for some hands on training?" She asks.
     "What?" I ask.
"Muriel, you have your first mission." She says.
I look at her in shock as I get in her car, Peter's already in the front seat and super jittery.
"You ready for the mission?" He asks.
"As ready as I'll ever be." I say, almost as excited as him.
"Alright you two, remember not to get so excited that you can't focus on the mission."
We both nod as she drives off. We end up in front of the quinjet.
"So, where are we going?" Peter asks when we get inside.
"San Francisco, it's crazy up there right now." She says. "Some of Tony's systems were hacked and we need to catch those guys. They've already set some crazy tech loose."
"How do you know those guys are still there?" I ask.
"Tony's tech takes forever to hack and it has to be re-hacked every half hour, if these guys decided to do this. They're in it until every piece of tech is hacked."
'Great first mission, I guess it's time Avenger training starts. I just hope my dad doesn't find out.'
