Marianne Lenoir was old and she knew it. She sat down on the rocking chair on her porch, gently rocking herself back and forth as she closed her eyes and enjoyed the soft breeze. Her mind wondered back to the time she last saw Master Fu.

I will wait for you.

Time passed slowly without her lost love. But she understood his duties as the Miraculous Guardian.

Marianne had moved to the countryside to hide from Hawkmoth after she was akumatized. Her house was small and cosy. She quickly realised that as much as her adventurous personality missed the buzz and rhythm of the city, she quite enjoyed the slower and more peaceful pace of life now. Less distractions and more thoughts.

How much longer do I wait? She pondered, I miss him. I'd give anything to see him right...

She heard the sound of faint footsteps.

now...

"Fu?" Marianne cried, standing up.

She couldn't believe her eyes. Was it possible to have your thoughts visualised in front of you as an illusion when you needed it the most? Marianne hoped it was possible.

"Marianne!" Master Fu shouted. He looked surprised.

"Fu!"

There was a short moment of disbelief when the pair stared at each other. Marianne reached out and touched his face, afraid that he would disappear as quickly as he appeared.

"What are you doing here?" She asked.

"Oh Marianne." Master Fu shook his head and looked down in shame, "I... I didn't expect you to be in this area. It's a long story, and I don't want to bring you into this mess, but I might need your help... Do you have a telephone by any chance?"

"Yes-yes of course."

She lead him into her house. "Lovely home." Master Fu commented lightly.

A thick phonebook was placed was placed next to the telephone on the coffee table. Master Fu turned to Marianne. "I have to make an overseas call, if you don't mind." He said. Marianne shrugged. "I'll tell you the rest of the story after."

(At Lew's apartment)

As soon as the door shut, the kwamis zoomed out of their owners' jackets, bags, and shirt pockets.

Plagg landed on Adrien's chest. He wouldn't admit it, but he was most definitely worried about his owner.

Wayzz waved cheerfully at Lew. "Hello."

"Great to see you again, Wayzz."

Lew lead the teenagers to the dining table, where there was room for everyone to sit. After placing plates of hot food on the table for all humans and kwamis alike, Brie excused herself and went to her room to change.

"I received a call from my brother Fu this morning. So I was expecting your arrival. However he has told me that someone broke in to your hideout. He got away before they entered but is worried that whoever it was was Hawkmoth."

The heroes looked at each other.

"Considering the akuma attack here in Hong Kong, I think it's safe to say that it was Hawkmoth who broke in. He knows where you are."

"But..." Nino said, "didn't Adrien say that only his parents knew about that house?"

"I don't think it's possible to live somewhere and not have anyone know about it..." Alya pointed out.

"What if Hawkmoth is Adrien's dad?" Chloe blurted out.

They all turned to the blonde.

"That's... um, a possibility?" Alya said weakly.

Marinette tapped on the table. "I doubt it. Adri- Chat and I have fought Gabriel Agreste before when he was akumatized."

"I think." Nino paused, "we should concentrate on getting the ingredients ASAP. Then we'll be on our way back to Paris."

Brie appeared from her room and went over to Adrien. Her hands carefully treating the purple patch on his forehead with a wet cloth. Suddenly Marinette found herself concentrated on the way Brie's face looked down at him tenderly and fondly. Half of her wished that Adrien wouldn't wake up yet, just so that Brie wouldn't be the first person he sees when he opens his eyes.

Marinette felt torn. It was her fault that Adrien was in such a state. She was supposed to be grateful that Brie was here to assist them. Yet all these other emotions were flooding up so fast she was afraid she'd drown.

After promising to work on the ingredients, Lew insisted that they all stay the night. The apartment was small, and Adrien had already occupied the couch. Nino decided to stay in the living room with him. Marinette, who couldn't bring herself to share a room with Brie, stayed in the small guest room with Alya, leaving Chloe with Brie.

Everyone took turns using the shower. Brie and Lew provided whatever they needed, which the heroes were thankful for. One by one they retreated to their rooms, wondering how much sleep will they get with so many thoughts in their heads, whirring around like a snowstorm.
