Quinn’s POV.

“See you later at the party, Quinn!” Pracy shouted after the class ended and it’s dismissal time.

I waved at her as she drove off with her personal bodyguard. “See you!”

Our classes for today were over. It was kind of boring anyway. I waited at the bus stop for the service driver to pick me up before I left the school.

As I arrived at the house, I saw my mother in such a hurry while putting her bag inside the car’s compartment.

“Mom!” I shouted from a near distance, earning her attention. “Where are you going?”

“Oh, you’re here! I have a lot of business work to finish today, honey. I have to go back to the office. I’ll see you later–” She hopped in her car and started the engine.

“Uh, Mom, wait a second!” I stopped her from leaving. “I would like to ask for your permission to let me join the celebration party in our school tonight. Can I go?”

“Yes, sure, honey! You may go. I’m sorry, I’ll be off to work. Don’t drink too much alcohol, okay? Goodbye!”

I was about to say something when she kissed me on the cheeks and bid her goodbye. I let out a sigh and nodded while watching her leave until she was out of sight.

I entered the house and headed upstairs. I searched for a dress to wear for the party later. I took the mini party dress with lace in the closet and fit-checked it in the mirror. It’s a great pair in color with the sandals I was planning to use.

I laid down in my bed for a couple of minutes to get some rest, but I didn’t realize that I had fallen asleep.

I woke up when my phone buzzed for alarm and Pracy’s series of missed calls to me. I immediately took a shower and dressed up. I applied makeup to my face and curled the ends of my hair a little.

After making sure everything was in order, I left the house and drove back to Mystica Elementa High. Pracy and Alora greeted me with a welcoming smile as I arrived at the school’s venue.

“Quinn!”

Pracy came running over to me. Her high-pitched scream got me plugging my fingers into my ears. She threw her arms around me in excitement, and I hugged her back with a slight eye roll and chuckle.

“You look extra pretty tonight, Naveen!” Alora showered me with her flattery words.

My last name is what she always calls me and I’ll never get used to it.

I flashed a smile. “You, too.”

Pracy clung to our arms. “Let’s go inside, bitches!”

The three of us shouldered our way to the stadium. We arrived just in time because the party hadn’t started yet.

I covered my ears due to the deafening noise of the wild crowd, followed by the loud and booming music. Our decent school could become a bar house in no time because everything was set and organized. The dance floor, bar games, different shades of dim lights, and even beers and alcohol are also served at tables. All of us here were of legal age, so we were allowed to drink.

“Are you ready to party?” The DJ played the music to hype up.

“Yes!” The students screamed at the top of their lungs.

The party started with a cool ambience. We danced and drank as if the world was about to end. We didn’t stop until we were exhausted.

I explored the frame with a big smile painted on my lips. Being an introvert, contrary to Pracy as the social butterfly in our squad, for the first time, I get to experience the enjoyment youth are supposed to feel at their age.

“Are you having fun, Quinn?” Pracy asked as we stopped dancing for a while to get another bottle of beer.

“I am!” I yelled in her ears because we were unable to hear each other’s voice. “Are you good?”

She raised her thumb and nodded. “Of course!”

I chuckled. “It’s obvious.”

After an hour, I could no longer count how many drinks we had emptied. Some students went home, while others fell asleep on the spot due to intoxication. But Pracy and I refused to budge. We don’t want to end the night and go home yet.

“Hey, cheers to our last shot,” Pracy said as she gulped her beer.

I let out a soft chuckle as her head hit the table. I stood up and lifted her body so she could sleep comfortably. I didn’t bother waking her because I’m certain she won’t wake up.

I glanced at Alora who’s sleeping in the corner as well. I was the only one remaining strong and wide awake, even the professors were knocked down. I glanced at the screen of Pracy’s phone, checking the time before I put it back in her pocket. As of now, it’s twelve o’clock in the midnight.

Dizzy and intoxicated, I had no idea how I managed to stand up without stumbling. I scanned the quiet, messy venue. My eyes narrowed in perplexity when I noticed the shady section of the stadium.

As I approached it, I saw a foreign door. A blank space welcomed me upon entering. It’s an old, empty room without a single piece of furniture. The darkness of the surroundings makes it difficult for me to see the interior.

I peeked at the transparent glass window in front of me, viewing the moon and the sky. A few seconds later, a sudden lightning appeared and the thunder roared, which frightened me.

I took a step back, my lips parted in a daze. I pressed my eyes shut and lightly tapped my heavy chest. I could feel my heart thumping in my chest as my body began to heat up and sweat. My breathing became more unstable as well.

I couldn’t figure out why it felt like something was draining all of my energy. My knees felt weak, and my vision became dark and blurry.

The next thing I knew, I fell to the ground and lost consciousness…
