Quinn’s POV.

I was abstracted and unaware of my surroundings. I scanned the vicinity and was staggered by the view. I bit my lower lip as I stared at the vast and opulent palace in front of me. I was dazed and awestruck at the same time. I felt like I was in a jungle because of the tall trees and grass everywhere.

What is this place?

I took a few steps near the palace, keeping a close eye on it. I looked back at the door through which I had entered earlier, but it was shut. The mysterious door transformed into a towering and broad wall. My eyes narrowed in befuddlement.

Why did it vanish?

When I heard crackling and footsteps from a distance, I dashed to hide in the lawn. My pupils dilated as I caught a glimpse of the handsome man who emerged from the palace. He’s quite tall. I’m guessing he’s 5’9’’ or taller. We’re probably the same age. He has a broad chest and shoulders. He was attractive, but he seemed snobbish because of his knitted brows. He was, well, different from all others.

He glanced around, as if inspecting. My eyes widened as I trampled on a piece of wood on the ground, which produced a creaking noise.

My heartbeat accelerated when I noticed the man coming over to my position. I nearly jumped up in terror when he pointed his weapon at my neck.

I’m screwed!

“Who are you?” he asked with a serious expression on his face.

“I-I’m not an enemy!” I stammered in nervousness and raised both hands, as if I were a criminal surrendering to a cop.

He eyed me with skepticism. By the way he stared at me, I got the impression he was then judging me. I realized I was being defensive. I’m not an enemy, but he may believe I am because of how I reacted.

“How can I be certain?” His brow furrowed. “It’s the first time I’ve seen your face. Do you think I will believe you?”

“Please, believe me! I’m being honest! I have no idea how I got here,” I pleaded.

His expression grew softer. “From which kingdom are you? You must be lost.”

He was right, I went astray. I had no clue where I was. I scrutinized my surroundings once more, hoping to find a familiar route I’d taken before. I couldn’t move because his sword was directed at me. I was afraid he’d chop off my head without hesitating if I attempt to resist. I swallowed hard, realizing how sharp his sword was.

“Where am I? What is this place?” I wondered aloud.

“This is our realm.”

My ears clapped because of his answer. What did he say? A realm? I stepped back as soon as he pulled his sword off me and placed it inside his garb. I let out a loosen sigh.

“You’re in the Kingdom of Narva.”

Narva…

It was my first time I’ve heard such a word. Where exactly am I doing here, and why do they have a realm? Are they playing a prank on me? Is this some sort of joke?

“May I know your name?” He analyzed me from head to toe. “You look like a princess.”

“My name is Quinn…” I released a smile to disguise my nervousness. “I am Quinn Emerald.”

“Are you a princess from the Kingdom of Borza?” He persisted in questioning me.

I nodded in response even though I was clueless. “Y-Yes! I came from the Kingdom of Borza.”
