ACT III: HIS SIDE / SCENE 2: INSULT

(The entrance will be the arrival of a waiter holding a cold red wine)

(The parents of Markus, Janus and Lewi Sander, are positioned opposing each other in the quarter table)

(While Giselle and Markus are also seated just the same as how the parents of Markus were positioned)

(The spotlight must temporarily be focused on the hand of the waiter putting a bit of red wine in the glass bottle of Giselle)

Giselle:
Than-...

Lewi:
Sheesh... (stopping Giselle from giving gratitude to the waiter)
Leave that bottle to her,
She is definitely thirsty!

Lewi faked her smile and look on Giselle. But instead of taking that statement as an insult, she only smiled at Lewi. That made Lewi to become surprised.

Janus:
Enough, Lewi.

Janus spoke so calmly but it made his wife, Lewi to stop.

Janus:
So, son, how’s the company?

Markus:
Fine. Things are falling into place.

Janus:
Well, how about the bidding held last night?

Markus:
Cancelled.

Lewi:
What do you mean, cancelled?

Markus:
Only few investors was present, so the board decided to continue it another time.

Lewi:
I see.

Giselle:
(talking to her mind)
If the bidding was cancelled, then why is Markus be that so tired last night?

Janus:
What about you Giselle? Any plans?

Giselle:
Ahmm...

Lewi:
Definitely, she doesn’t know anything. What can we expect from a Lambert?

Janus:
I said, enough! I’m not asking for your opinion, Lewi.

(Someone’s phone ringing)

Markus:
Sorry, I just need to answer this call.
Excuse me.

Markus left. Only the three; Lewi, Janus and Giselle were on the table filled with different foods.

Giselle:
Actually, I took up a law course using my own money. And, four days from now, I will take the bar examination.

Janus:
Very well, good for you.

Giselle:
Thank you, dad!

Giselle was so proud of herself, she smiled and sit firmly.

Lewi:
Hmmm...

After a few minutes, Markus went back to his seat.

Markus:
What’s going on?

Janus:
Son, you must be so proud of your wife. She finished her law course and four days from now, she will take the bar exam.

Markus:
What?
(moved his sight to Giselle)
You didn’t tell me that.

Giselle:
It’s a surprise!

Janus:
You deserve a celebration, I’ll throw a thanksgiving party, what do you think, Giselle?

Giselle:
I don’t think that it is a good idea.

Janus:
But, why?

Giselle:
Still focusing on my self-review sessions.

Janus:
How great you are!

Giselle:
Thank you!

Janus:
But still, I insist. Maybe exactly after taking the exam for I am 100% sure that you’ll pass it.

Giselle was speechless, she didn’t expect that her Father-in-law will be so proud of her achievements in life.

Lewi:
Don’t get too excited my beloved husband! We aren’t sure!

Lewi laughed alone.
