Liam's pov

"What are you thinking of James? I know this look..." I ask my Beta and best friend since childhood.

He seems to be in deep thoughts and sometimes this makes me scared. I am the silent type of person usually.

When he is silent he is thinking about something I won't like and he will piss me off but he is like brother for me and I can't see him like this, so I have to ask and know what is bothering him.

"Have you ever wondered how we would have been if our mates were here with us? I mean..." he says and I cut him immediately.

"They are not. Stop thinking about them James. They don't deserve your concern, they never did!We are better off without them." I reply annoyed.

I hate it when it comes to them!

He wanted them from the first moment. When I told him I found my 'mate' he was excited about his Luna but I wasn't. She was weak, ugly and fool. I never wanted a Beta for a mate. She would be a disaster for me and my pack, a shame of mate and Luna for the most fearful pack and an Alpha like me.

When James saw her friend, Cassie that night at the club in which we found them he immediately fell in love with her, she was his mate!

From that day he is always talking about her and he has changed, he is not laughing or having fun, he is a different person and this is causing me a headache.

"You are an idiot, aren't you? You don't have any right to talk about my mate like this. And what about your mate, huh? This girl is everything for you and I know this for sure. How could you do all these things to her? You have no heart at all Liam." He screams frustrated and I feel my anger raising.

Every time the same thing!

"She was weak, having her as my mate would be a terrible mistake." I answer through my teeth.

"Weak? You call the girl I saw and learned so much about weak? You were abusing her for months Liam and she never stopped loving you or being patient, she hoped that you would change. Because I wasn't there with you those months doesn't mean I don't know what was happening. She is stronger than you, I assure you." He says angrily and I growl annoyed, the hell she was!

"She was a slut, did you see her that night? I went to her room to see her and she wasn't there, she was in a club dancing with a jerk!" I remind him and I instantly start shaking.

I still remember the image of her dancing with an idiot! His dirty hands were wrapped around her, she was laughing and smiling and he wanted her, it was obvious.

"She was locked in her room for months, she wanted to have some fun, she was afraid of you, she was distant from everyone because of your jealously. You say you never loved her, why did you act like that then? Why did you take her and raped the poor girl asshole?" he screams again.

"You know... How? I... never..." I tremble shocked and he growls ready to punch me on the face.

"Lily told me, their friend. Remember when you went back to the college two weeks after that night and I came with you? I talked with her alone after we asked her about Mira and Cassie and she told me what you did. I begged her to tell me where Cassie was and that I loved her but she told me I was lying. I asked her how she was so sure and she told me what you did, she was sure I was just like you and I rejected Cassie to hurt her and because I was ashamed of her being my mate." He explains shaking from anger and he hits his hand with power on the dashboard.
