Lillian walked by James it was so awkward. William looked up seeing James and Lillian. "Lillian come here." Mr. Anderson said with a smile. Lillian stood shocked. "You are forcing me to marry James?" Lillian said as Lafayette walked in with William. "He is the only man that has come forward with a good offer. Plus Henry would have-"
"Henry wouldn't want this! He would want me to be happy! You know nothing about Henry! You know nothing!" Lillian said with an outburst of rage. "calm down... this is a good thing." Mr. Anderson said with an awkward smile. "As you wish father... I will accept his proposal for my hand." Lillian said her voice cracking. She turned to leave when William spoke, "Sir... I already offered to marry Lillian twice and yet you have rejected my proposals. Now you are trying to force Lillian with a man she barely trust." William said as Lillian was shaking. "It is my father's blessing William." Lillian said trying to hide the sorrow in her voice. "James... is a kind boy but not yet a man..." Lillian said as she shut the door behind her.
She walked down the road to her brother grave. She sat on the bench near it and just cried. She got up and walked back. She saw James with a big grin on his face. Lillian went to her room and she locked it. She just cried. William was pissed of, he saw James out side Lillian's door. "Hey... are you okay? I know you are upset but it is good for you." James said as he placed his hand on the door. "Lillian Come out, you haven't ate all day." James said trying to open the door.
Mr. Anderson unlocked the door. He walked in with James, They saw Lillian lying on her bed sleeping her pillow had tear stains. Had a box of letters open on the floor next to her bed. "Put these in the fire." Mr. Anderson said taking them. William sat still angry but not as much. Lafayette was trying to cheer him up. The saw James with a box of paper. They heard Lillian running down the stairs. James lifted the papers out of the box and threw them into the fire. Lillian dove for them and caught most of them. She burned her hands. She held the letters tight trying to hold in her tears. William saw on of the letters at they burned. He got pissed and walked to James and punched him. Lillian looked shocked. "Those are important to her." William yelled as Mr. Anderson walked down the stair. Lillian was crying. The pain was unbearable. Lillian ran with the letters up stairs and hid them under the floor boards. She heard yelling. She ran downstairs. William was on the ground. Lafayette was in front of Mr. Anderson. "James stop!" He yelled. Lillian ran to James and held his arm. He felt her arm and threw her to the floor. He held a knife. Lillian laid herself over William.
William opened his eyes. He saw Lillian on him. "Please... he did nothing. He was defending me." Lillian said tears running her face. "Move." James said pulling her hair. Lillian let out a yelp but just held on tight. "I said move!" James said as Lillian disarmed him. She was panting. "I learned something from Henry... and you know it well." Lillian said grabbing the knife, holding it in front of her. "YOU ARE WEAK! YOU DIDN'T TRY TO SAVE HIM! YOU ARE A CORWAD! YOU DON'T DESRVER MY HAND!" Lillian yelled at the top of her lungs.
Lillian felt a hand on her shoulder and looked to see William getting up. Lillian was slapped, and she dropped the knife. "You are filthy dog to the redcoats aren't you." James said as Lillian cheek turned red. "I....I am not." Lillian said looking down. "Oh you are shamed. Maybe you should, go back to Cornwallis." James said his eye looked at her in disgust. Lillian felt dirty. "Shut up." William said pulling Lillian closer to him. She felt his warmth. "This is to far." Mr. Anderson said putting his hand on James shoulder. Lillian took the knife from the floor. She flipped in around in her hand and threw it. It went past everyone and stuck into the wall. William grabbed her hand and dragged her out of the room. Then out of the house. "We are going where no one can find us." He said as he found his horse in the stables. "But what of my father, William he will hind us." Lillian said as she looked at him. "Trust me." William said putting his hands on her face. She closed her eyes, he kissed her sweetly. "Is it wrong for an American to fall in love with an English man?" Lillian said looking at William. "It shouldn't be."
