As a dark and lone person, Raven knew at once she preferred Halloween over any other holiday when she came to Earth. Not only was it dark and creepy, but she could be someone she never was, someone people could trust. She could dress up as someone normal.

Of course, normal costumes for Raven were usually donning a simple t-shirt and jeans with a purple jacket, then using magic to change her face a little so she'd look like normal teenager. The Teen Titans said that it wasn't a real costume. Did Raven care? Of course not.

This year, however, they seemed to want to take it into their own hands. Starfire was always very hard to resist when she used the puppy eyes on you. Raven knew she stood no chance whatsoever.

"Oh, friend Raven," She said, eyes huge, "oh the please and the please let the me choose your costume this special year." Her eyes widened, and the light hit them so well they looked like they were shining. Raven backed away a little.

"Star..." She said, grimacing. "You know I always pick my own costume..."

"Friend Raven..." Star said, pouting. "The please?"

Raven groaned. She was a goner. "Fine." She said sourly.

"Oh the greatest joy you have given me! Oh joy!" Star cried out in delight. "It will be the ready the night of our the annual Halloween ball!"

Raven just stalked off. She hated that ball. She always stood to the side awkwardly for the whole dance, refusing to even move her feet, and halfway through, she would just disappear from the ballroom without anyone noticing. So fun.

Of course, she knew that if Star picked her costume, she would do it and make sure she stayed at the ball this year. Ugh. She knew it would happen eventually, though.

So, she headed down to work on Cyborg's car with him, so the stress of the costume wouldn't get to her. By the time they were done, she had completely forgotten, and over the next couple of weeks, she didn't think about it at all.

But Halloween came, and with it came Starfire running to her room the night of the dance, 3 hours before it started, with a large box in her hands. She had also brought a scarf, which Raven looked at suspiciously upon noticing it was there. Starfire dusted her hair with make-up: flashes of eyeshadow, mascara, and blush made her wince. She curled her hair so it hung in long, lazy rolls all around her head, then grabbed her hair and tugged it upwards into a loose fitting bun on the top of her head. Some of the curls floated down the side of Raven's face, gently mirroring her sharp edges. Then, being careful to not mess up her make-up, Star tied the scarf gently around her face, just so Raven could not see what she was being put into. Raven sighed softly as the fabric was zipped up around her. She could feel it was a dress. She knew it was. As soon as the scratchy fabric had hit her skin, she knew it was. And she detested dresses.

Tonight would be a trying time indeed.

As soon as the dress was zipped up, Star took her hand and sat her down in the chair Raven knew was in front of her mirror.

She slowly untied the scarf and let it fall to the ground. Raven looked in the mirror and couldn't contain her gasp. She was in a yellow gown, soft and flowing. It draped around her, but exploded at her waist into a yellow flower. With the bun and the dress, Raven immediately knew who Starfire had dressed her up as.

"Please do not say I'm Belle." Raven said, still staring at herself in the mirror. Star's smile grew.

"You are the Belle, from the Beauty and the Beast!" She squealed. Raven groaned. "Now, I must go get ready, and you must wait here until the Beast comes to get you."

Raven jumped. "Um, what?! Who's the Beast? Did you just set me up on a date?"

Star frowned a little. "Cyborg called it the blind date. I did the asking of why we should not blind you for this blind date, but he did not answer the me."

Raven sighed. "Star, I don't want a blind date for the dance."

"It is the too late, friend Raven. Now you must wait here, he will soon come to do the fetching of you!" She giggles and flew out of the room, leaving Raven to her dark thoughts on how to strangle each of the Titans.

Eventually, she heard a hesitant knock on her door and sighed. Going over, she opened it, and her eyes opened wide. Beast Boy was standing there, dressed in an elegant blue suit with gold trimmings, much like the suit the Beast wore. He was staring at her with equal shock, taking in her beauty.

"Beast Boy?!" She cried, her eyes still unbelieving.

He smiled and shrugged. "That's me."

"You're my date?"

He shrugged again and shifted uncomfortably. "Seems so." He offered her an arm. "Shall we go?"

Grudgingly, she accepted his arm and he escorted her down to the party. The music was playing, and couples were dancing and laughing. The heat was intense, and Raven couldn't help but wrinkle her nose.

"So," she heard Beast Boy say. "You obviously don't like parties very much."

She was silent for a moment. "I'm supposed to control my emotions. A party is the opposite of how I'm supposed to act."

His eyes never wavered. "Maybe you just haven't tried dancing at one yet." Smiling, he led her to the dance floor and swung her around.

As the night wore on and she continued to dance with him, she found out how much she did like dancing. She smiled as he laughed and spun her. She was actually having a good time.

Cyborg went up to the DJ's booth and obviously requested for a specific song, because the actual Beauty and the Beast song came on, and everyone had us dancing in the middle. Raven was still smiling softly, and she couldn't help but laugh a little at Beast Boy's happy face.

Eventually, he lead her outside to a bench. They sat down quietly, and stared at each other for a moment.

"You know," he said. "You looked absolutely beautiful tonight." Raven blushed a little, and thanked Azar it was so dark it was hard to see her face.

"Thank you, Gar." She said quietly.

Slowly, he slipped his arm around her shoulders. At first, Raven wasn't really sure what to do, but she eventually leaned into his touch, settling into his warmth on the cold night.

"I really like it when you call me Gar." He replied, and she smiled.

"Guess I'll have to do it more often."

"That would be fantastic." He said. "You know what else is fantastic?"

She shrugged. "I don't know. What?"

"You."

She felt a warm tingling inside her chest, and couldn't help but laugh softly. He pulled her closer to him.

She felt so happy and relaxed, she couldn't stop the words as they escaped her mouth. "I think I love you, Gar."

He stiffened, and she covered her mouth in horror. She couldn't believe what she'd just said. But then he relaxed, and he put his hand under her chin.

"I think I love you too, Rae." He said, and brought his lips onto hers. They crushed together, and Raven felt explosions in the pit of her stomach.

Being with him felt so good. It was different than anything else she had ever experienced. It was fantastic.

So they smiled at each other and leaned in once more.
