-Katniss's POV-

I wake up in the ER. A doctor comes in and sees I'm awake. "Ah Ms.Everdeen!" He says. "You are probably wondering why you are in the hospital. So I'll explain it to you." He begins and I nod. "A boy who goes by Mr.Mellark? Carried you here and you have a broken nose and a concussion. The concussion isn't bad. You have been asleep for about 2 days. So not too long." He finishes up.

"Do you need anything before Peeta signs you out?" He asks. "I have a painful headache." I croak out. He hands me a glass of water and a few pills. I give him a look of thank and take the pills.

He helps me out and I see Peeta signing the papers. He finishes up and gives a small smile when he sees me. He takes my arm to help my balance and we get in his car. "How long?" He all of a sudden asks. "How long what?" I ask.

"How long has Gale been hurting you?" He whispers. Gale and I have been dating for 7 months now. I cough and say "umm.. 5 months..." I hope he doesn't hear me but he did. "Why didn't you tell anyone?" He says starting up the car. He backs out of the parking lot and we are now on the highway.

"Everyone looks at us like the perfect couple. If I tell anyone it would be the death of me. I got forced to be in his group. Delly is his cousin and acts like we are BFFs. Gale was fine at first. He would love me and be a great boyfriend. One day he told me he loved me. I just... I didn't feel the same a-and.." I start crying.

He stops the car "hey, hey it's okay." He says rubbing my back. "H-he started a-smoking a-nd just...just wasn't the same g-Gale anymore." I sob into his shoulder. He started driving again.

"Here how about you come with my group?" He asks. I shake my head. "I can't he'll find me and god knows what he'll do." I say. "I'll protect you." He says.

I stare into his eyes. I start crying again. "Hey why are you crying?" He asks worriedly.

"Nobody has been this nice to me before." I say. He wipes away my tears.

"Stay with me?" I ask worrying he's just playing with me.

He slams the breaks and looks deep into my eyes.

"Always." He says.

I really hope so.
