-3 weeks later-

-Katniss's POV-

I cough up blood. Gale doesn't give me water or food anymore. Luckily I can handle starvation. I can see my ribs but it's not the first time. When mom shut everyone out when dad died, prim and I were starving, so I had to hunt illegally for food.

I have burns, scars, cuts, bruises, you name it I got it. Gale used multiple items to torture me. He electrified me, whipped me, cut me, and many more. I scream as pain shoots up me. I don't know what he just did because my world is spinning.

"Gale....please...stop..." I cry out trying to catch my breathe. I'm so tired but I wake up to either Gale doing something or nightmare. If Peeta was here he would protect me.

"Where's lover boy? Oh I see, you wanted to save him didn't you. Also your little sister. What's her name? Prim?" A girl who goes by Alma Coin says. I shake as I sob.

"You leave Peeta out of this!" I scream at her with such power she takes 2 steps back. She glares at me and I do it just as mean back. "I Think I have the authority to talk about who I want." She yells.

I shake my head. "You have no authority! A SELFISH WOMAN LIKE YOURSELF AND GALE DONT DESERVE ANYTHING!" I scream. "You don't even have the authority to be alive. If he police caught you..imagine the worst." I threaten.

She grits her teeth and punches me. I scream out in pain. I fall out and start hyperventilating. My vision is getting blurred out and the last thing I see is someone taking out Gale and Coin.

-Peeta's POV-

I found Katniss! I grab her and call the police. I wait a minute then hear sirens. They take Gale and Coin.

I give Katniss to one of the guys from the medical team that just arrived. They said she's fine just a lot of marks on her body. I thank them and carry her to my car. She's still passed out.

I look at her, she looks so fragile and so bony. I cry at the sight. I pull into the Everdeen's driveway and knock on the door with Katniss in my hands. Marie opens the door and cries when she sees her daughter.

"You saved her." She says and hugs me. I hug back then break away. Little Prim runs at me and hugs me also. "You filled your promise." She whispers. "What promise?" I ask. Promise? "You promised to protect her, and you did." She says.

I shake my head. "I didn't do a good job at it." I say glancing at Katniss. "You couldn't of done anything to stop it. Nobody could of." Prim says.

Suddenly I hear a high pitched scream upstairs. Katniss. I bolt up stairs. She's thrashing around.

-Katniss's POV-

Memories of torture hit me. But the only difference is I'm replaced with Peeta. He is getting the torture.

"NO!" I scream and run at him but he just goes farther from my reach.

He starts screaming of pain. "STOP! I CANT TAKE IT!" He screams.

I cover my ears with my hands and get on my knees.

I scream,cry, and shake.

"Katniss? Katniss it's okay!" A voice says. Peeta.

I wake up. I wake up and see Peeta. "Gale? Coin?" I ask. He shakes his head. "Prison maybe even a death sentence." He says.

I cry. "I just wanted a life where I could be happy. I wanted it to be no enemies. Everyone just friends. everyone safe." I sob.

"I wish it was like that but it's just not accurate." Peeta says.

"Peeta I'm done living." I say.

His eyes snap to mine.

"What do you mean?" He asks carefully.

"I want to die. It would be better if I died. Nobody needs me." I sob.

"I do. I need you." He says and leans in.

Our first kiss in 3 weeks.

That doesn't change my thought though,
