chapter fifty-one.

They walked within the entrance of the school, and just as voldemort had said, he commanded his followers to leave for the time being. Everything had been destroyed, from the walls of the school, to the various fleets of dead creature bodies. Small bits of fire could seen, emma felt sick to her stomach, her cheeks itchy from her dried tear stains.
“ where is everybody?” asked hermione.
Ron opens the doors to the hospital wing, the room had been in small rubble, but there had been people there. Some were injured, few were walking and breathing, and there were many that were dead. Ron and hermione had walked ahead, emma and harry slowly behind them, as they looked at the damage.

They stopped when catching the sight of the weasleys, emma letting out a gasp, when she saw molly hugging fred. He was dead, emma could tell, her hand grabs harry’s to squeeze. She caught sight of someone resting beside him, she and harry finally taking notice of remus and sirius, as they had been with the weasleys. She recognized the familiar, blazed purple hair, and she knew who it was.
“ emma, harry,” sirius took notice of the twins.
“ sirius,” emma ran over to the man, “ is tonks..?”
“ yes,” he sighed, “ i’m sorry dear.”

“ harry,” emma called after her brother.
She follows him up the stairs towards the headmasters office, walking inside first, before harry closes the door behind them. Harry seemed to walk around, emma looked at him only for a moment, before catching sight of a secret door opening.
“ harry the pensieve,” emma said pointing to the wall.
Harry turned to the pensieve, taking out the flask in his pocket, as he and emma walked over to the pensieve. He hands emma the flask, as he took the bowl of the pensieve, letting it float into the air towards the desk. Harry nodded to emma when they were close to the pensieve, emma uncorking the flask, as she pours the content of the vial into the water.

Emma grabbed harry’s hand, looking at him, as they nodded simultaneously to the other. Their attention is on the pensieve now, slowly and simultaneously, they laid their faces in the water. She caught sight of an image, the darkness of the memory fading, emma’s gaining a headache suddenly. The memory revealed two girls, one with black hair and the other with red, as the red haired girl made a daisy bloom from the palm of her hand.
“ freak!” the black haired shouts, “ come here.”
“ i’m gonna tell mummy you’re a freak,” she shouts, “ you’re a freak lily!”
Emma realized who the other girl was then, she knew her snobbish shriek anywhere, it was their mother and aunt petunia.

A boy appears from the trunk of a tree, which lily had been standing next to, as he stood close to her when petunia runs away. He plucked a weed from the grass, which changed into a butterfly, as it flew towards lily. The boy was snape she had recognized, watching as her mother and he, smiled at each other.
“ she’s jealous,” he said to lily, “ because she’s ordinary and you’re special.”
“ that’s mean severus,” said lily.
They laid underneath the three, watching it move along with the wind, the leaves that fell off floating into the air. The memory suddenly changes, as lily and severus were in hogwarts, having been waited to be sorted.

“ gryffindor!” the sorting hat calls upon lily’s head.
The students of the gryffindor table had been clapping, lily walking towards severus, smiling at him before she went to her table.
“ hi i’m james,” greets a boy.
“ hi i’m lily,” she smiles at the boy.
Severus had a look of surprise when looking at the table, he had been hoping he would be in the same house as lily, but in the end he was placed in slytherin. Severus had been walking with lily, james, sirius and remus running past them, as they made lily drop her books. Again the memory changed, lily and james had been together, they had been married and were happy.
