Fall into the flood

A heroes death

John was in the barracks with a bunch of scared marines who were trying to make a barricade for the door.

"Oh man their gonna get in again." A young marine said shaking not being able to focus.

"Get a hold of yourself reinforcements will be here, now hurry up and grab more stuff to block the entrance!" John ordered trying to get the marine to calm down.

"But what if they get the turrets from the warthogs again!" the marine said still panicking.

"I've got that handled." An older looking marine said holding a detonator.

"What are you doing with that marine?" John said fearing, what could possibly happen.

"Don't worry when everyone started to retreat I put some bombs inside the hogs so they won't get them." The marine explained as he handed John the detonator.

"Thanks, I guess but next time tell your commanding officers about this." John says taking the detonator, then walking to one of the boarded up windows.

Flood were surrounding the vehicles tearing them apart piece by piece.

"Well it's now or never." John says as he pushes the button down with his thumb.

The warthogs exploded sending flaming pieces metal and parts of the flood everywhere, leaving large burn marks on the ground from where the vehicles stood.

"Good, now we won't have to worry about anymore of those giant freaks getting in here." John said as he sat down on one of the beds they had yet to put on the barricade.

The flood outside had then suddenly turned, all of them were now starring right at the barracks.

"Umm what are they doing?" The young marine said, fear causing his voice to rattle.

"Oh shit, how in the hell did they know that was us!" The old marine said shocked as he looked out the window.

The flood then started to rush over to the barracks, not acting like mindless beasts anymore.

Inside everyone picked up their guns and started to pile more stuff on to the barricade.

"Everyone be ready they'll be here shortly!" John ordered as everyone was running around quickly preparing for the attack.

He then stopped the old marine who was loading a Battle Rifle.

"Do you have any more of those charges?" John asked placing his hand on his shoulder.

"Yes but the only thing we could do with them from here is destroy the building." The marine said as he noticed John giving him a seriously cold stare.

"Oh... okay I'll put them in place just don't do it unless your sure we aren't going to make it out of this sir." The marine says as he walks off to place the charges.

Meanwhile at the command center.

Greg just saw all the warthogs explode killing the flood surrounding them.

"Well at least they know what their doing in the barracks." Greg said to Arthur who was walking by.

"Yeah at least now they can't get the turrets.... wait what are they doing?" Arthur said pointing out the window, as the flood had begun to target the barracks.

The flood raced straight for them not stopping for anything, then they began to beat on the doors and barricades that gave way after a few minutes allowing them to storm in.

"Oh no." Greg said, fear etched on his face as the flood were overrunning the barracks as gunshots rang out for a matter if seconds. Then as if it couldn't get any worse the building erupted into a massive explosion causing it to fall in a matter of seconds.

"Those bastards!" Greg said grabbing his DMR, started to run down the hall for the exit with tears running down his face on the inside of the helmet.

As he got close to the exit Mitch and a marine grabbed him before he could escape.

"Let me go!" Greg said trying to get free.

"No can do your no good to us or him if your dead Greg." Mitch said as they struggled to hold him.

"Ugg fine." Greg says after finally calming down as they released him.

Meanwhile in the command room

"Well Corvus when will the frigate be getting here?" Myres said as he sat at his desk.

"In 2 hours sir." Corvus responded as he disappears when a marine walked in.

"Sir the men in the barracks are dead. What should we do?" The marine says as he awaits his orders.

"Go and defend all entrances to this structure, I don't want them getting in." Myres says as he turns around in his chair.

When the marine left an image appeared on the screen which seemed to be from the outside of the base and was looking right at the command center.
