Would you like some Dianetti stuff? I'm not sure if I should keep that separate from Peraltiago
Jakes POV
The first day of eighth grade and I was late. Classic Peralta. I found my class and knocked on the doorframe before walking in. All of the heads turned to look at me, including my friends. We had been in the same class as each other since kindergarten, except for me and Gina. Our moms were friends when we were babies, so we would hang out then too.
The teacher this year looked like he could kill me.
Charles eyebrows furrowed in disappointment. Gina was too busy looking at her phone to see anything. Rosa smirked. Amy rolled her eyes. They all knew this was normal for me.
"Hello...?" the teacher said.
"Jake," I said.
"Well, Jake, you're late," said the teacher, "please take a seat."
"Okay, but I don't know your name" I pointed out.
"Mr. Jeffords," he replied.
I took a seat near the middle back of the room, behind Amy with Rosa to the left and Charles to the right. Gina was to the left of Amy, so she was in front of Rosa.
For the next half hour, Mr. Jeffords kept on talking about stuff that's going to happen about this year. What we're going to learn, all that boring stuff.
In front of me, Amy sits there paying close attention to every word the teacher says. I can't focus while she's there. Our friendship had been entirely platonic for the early years of our life. Last year, in seventh grade I started thinking of her as more than that.
After I realized I might possibly like her, I started joking around her and it kind of just stuck. Not even Charles knows about my crush, and he knows way too much about me. There's no way that she would ever like me back. She's too perfect for me. She thought of me as her most immature friend for as long as I remember.
I know for a fact that several other guys like her too. I mean, she's got everything, she's smart, cute, nice, and perfect in every possible way.
I pick up my backpack when I feel a slap on the shoulder from Rosa snapping me back into the real world and noticing that we were all going to the next class.
"Ow!" I exclaim.
"You're welcome," she said in her usual deadpan tone, and then turned on her heel walking away.
I stand up and sigh as I get ready for another year of this lame school, little did I know this year would be the best year of my life.
