I need answers. Dianetti?
Amy's POV
It was finally the second week of school, the first Monday of the year, ugh(just because I like school doesn't mean I like Monday mornings, they're my least productive morning.)
After homeroom, I picked up my binder and walked to the first chem class of the year. I'm gonna love this year.
Last Friday I went to the library during break to grab the textbooks, so I was the one person who was actually prepared for class today. Rosa and Gina are in English while Charles is in Biology and Jake and I have Chemistry.
Our school is a bit different from other schools. Here we have eight blocks in a day, but we have the same schedule every day. Lucky for me, all of my classes have at least one of my friends in them.
Chemistry is my first class of the day. I'm good with chemistry, so I'm glad it's the class I have to do when my brain isn't functioning properly.
Fun fact: your brain doesn't actually function properly until two and a half hours after getting up.
I sat down at a table near the front of the room, unfortunately, I couldn't get the one at the very front because some kids I don't know took one front table and Salli Browning (I hate her) took the other.
Jake walked in about a minute later and smiled at me when he found me.
"You're not late!" I said as he sat down next to me.
"I know, it's weird," he said
"So..." I started before he cut me off.
"Wanna be lab partners?" he asked.
"I mean, sure, but I don't know if we get to choose our lab partners."
That was when the teacher announced, "Attention everyone."
I turned to listen to her.
"My name is Ms. Gentley," she said, "and I will be your chemistry teacher for grade eight. You guys cannot choose your lab partners, but you will be with the person sitting next to you."
I turned to Jake and we smiled at each other before I turned back to the teacher.
The next few sentences were drowned out by my thoughts. I just realized that not only do I have to spend 45 minutes alone with Jake, but now I'm constantly working with him. This is going to be torture.
The teacher spent the rest of the class talking about the Periodic table and how it's going to play into the curriculum this year. I was already a few steps ahead of them. I memorized the periodic table in second grade.
I might ace this class, but I also might fail. The combination of the goofy friend I have next to me. Also, my mind is definitely going to be somewhere else than on compounds and mixtures this year.
