So far, the season was starting off great for us. We've also won against Brighton & Hove in the last Premier League match.

At work, I wasn't working with the squad like I usually did.
After the last home win, Ms. Fawcett came to me and asked me if I could help Alex, who has a long term injury. Of course, I agreed. It'd be nice to get to know the player and I tried to help everywhere I can.

It was the 30th August and I made my way to the rehab room of Melwood.

I opened the door and it took me quite by surprise that Alex was already there. He sat in front of me, staring on his phone. He has dark curly hair, a stubble and freckles on his tanned skin. As he noticed someone was coming in he looked up and put his phone away.

"Hello, I'm Marly. I'm helping and looking after you in rehab for a certain time. I am one of the new physios this season" I smiled at him and shook hands with him.

"I'm Alex. So you're the new medic everyone's been talking about?" he grinned and I blushed.

"Who is 'everyone' ?" I wanted to know.

"A few of the players...most specifically a defender too" he teased me.

"Let me guess, you're a friend of Joe?"
I chuckled.

"Yeah, I'm one of them" he admitted and shrugged.

"Anyways, let's start..." I tried to brush my embarrassment off. "You injured your right knee in the game against Roma in April, right?" I wanted to know so I could see how much I needed to catch up with his injury that is a cruciate ligament rapture.

"Yeah"

"And I hate to tell you, but you've probably been already told that you are expectedly out for the whole season"

"Yes.." he said with a sad undertone and my heart broke a bit seeing him like this.
I stepped towards him, petting his shoulder.
"Listen, we are all going to focus on doing the best this season to get you healed and fit again. It's going to be a long way of rehab, but trust me, you're getting through. I can see you're strong. And you probably cant wait to step on the pitch one day" I tried to cheer him up.

It's actually insane how an injury can have such a huge effect on a footballer's career. But with multiple muscle bands torn, of course it takes long for the knee to heal completely. I wouldn't let him go to the pitch until I know that everything is alright.

"Yeah, thank you so much. You don't even know me yet you're showing that you will do anything to help. Even as a nee physio. I really needed that'' he smiled at me.

"You can talk with me about anything. Medical confidentiality, you know" I laughed, but I meant it.

"Same goes for you. I'm pretty bored here all one in rehab, so you can talk to me about whatever you want"
