The guests broke out in a standing ovation and loud applause as Izzie and Mark sealed their vows with a kiss. My man even dipped her! Smooth... They threw their arms up in victory and faced the crowd for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Evans.

It had been a beautiful outdoor service. The mid-afternoon, late April weather had cooperated at an unseasonably warm 70 degrees and plenty of sunshine for the lush garden ceremony. The newly married couple made their way down the aisle that had been littered with white rose petals, stopping briefly along the way to hug various guests. But my eyes were fixed on the woman behind the bride though. Lex. She looked stunning as the maid of honor. It really wasn't fair to Iz.

The corners of my mouth involuntarily curved upwards as she made her way back up the aisle, holding a bouquet of white roses and flashing that gorgeous smile

The corners of my mouth involuntarily curved upwards as she made her way back up the aisle, holding a bouquet of white roses and flashing that gorgeous smile. We locked eyes for a moment and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw her slightly blush and giggle under her breath. Fuck, she was cute. My thoughts were interrupted by a jab in my ribcage.

"I saw that," Proof grinned. "Y'all twoooo gonna get it oooon toniiiiight!" he sang excitedly.

"Man, shut the fuck up," I dismissed with an attempt at a hidden smile.

It had been months since I'd seen her. Not since the Grammy's. So much had happened since then. My divorce was well underway with enough dirt on Kim for me to file for full custody of the girls, if I wanted to. My aunt and uncle had moved in from Missouri to help me out but shit wasn't turning out exactly as I'd hoped with that... Jenny had become the world's most unlikely babysitter/friend. And I was sorta kinda talkin to my biggest celebrity crush...Mariah Carey. Lex and I had tried to keep in touch while she'd been on tour but it was hard with my own week-long European tour, time changes, rehearsals, and recording in the studio.

I missed her though. As busy as my life was and even with all the people in it on a daily basis, shit never felt...whole...without her around. Never felt...warm. Or complete. So I was beyond happy to be at this wedding. Not just for Iz, who I'd come to love as a second mother, but to be around my soul mate again. My body tingled with the anticipation of being near her, so I nudged Proof to start the process of exiting the row of chairs he and I were sitting in along with Sharonda, Royce, and Cassie.

I had been worried that my presence there was gonna interfere with the couple's deserved attention. But fortunately, no one really batted an eye. I'd met most of these people at one time or another over the years of knowing Lex. The only ones I didn't know were on Mark's side and I guessed he'd versed them all on treating me like any other wedding guest so we could allow the bride and groom their special night. It was actually refreshing to be around this many non-celebrity people and feel...just...normal. Like any other Joe Shmoe.

"Bacardi and Coke please," I requested at the patio bar. It was time for cocktails and mingling while the small bridal party took a short, 3-minute limo ride to the pier at Lake Michigan for their pictures. The bridal party consisted of Izzie and Mark, of course; Lex as the maid of honor, and Brian, Mark's younger brother, as the best man. Brian's 6 year old daughter and 4 year old son filled the roles of flower girl and ring bearer pretty adorably.
