The ride over to his parents took a while and we didn't say much to each other on the way over. Every now and then, I would sneak glances at Dylan, wondering whether if he is as nervous as me. The neighborhood is a very upscale; gated community. The driveway up to the house was long and lined with trees, many of them just starting to turn bright orange and yellow. The house is enormous; very modern with suttle hints of rustic charm. The moment we park, I can feel my belly do flips and at this point I'm not sure if it's the baby moving or my nerves. Dylan walks around and opens the door for me; taking my hand as we walk to the front door. He knocks, and we wait but, as we're standing there, I start to feel sick and just as the door opens, I hurl into the bushes. I'm so appalled, that I'm afraid to look up.

"Hey, are you alright Lex?"

"Please come in both of you." His father said, ushering us inside.

Dylan walked with me to the guest bathroom, his parents hovering close behind. He turned and told his parents he would be out in a moment. Grabbing a wash rag from the closet, he began to soak it under warm water. I sat on the toilet lid and realized in that moment that I seem to have a knack for bathroom drama. Dylan carefully applied the warm rag to my face and I could see in his eyes that he is just as anxious and apprehensive as I am.

"Dylan, I can't go back out there, I'm so embarrassed."

"Lex baby, my parents aren't going to be upset with you for hurling into their bushes; if anything, they're just as concerned as me."

"I think it's just nerves, I mean honestly, I didn't feel sick until we parked."

"Honestly, I'm a little nervous to but, mostly I'm feeling happy. This is all happening whether they approve of it or not. I love you and I plan on spending the rest of my life with you and nothing they say will stop me from being with the person I love more than anything in this world."

He spoke from his heart and it literally made me feel so much better; I could feel all my fear melt away. Taking my hands in his, he pulled me to him. His confidence reassured me that everything was going to be ok; even if the outcome wasn't what we are hoping for. He asked me if I was ready and for the first time today, I felt confident. His parents were waiting in the living room, when we walked over to them, they looked concerned but relieved.

"Is everything alright dear." His father asked.

"Yea dad, everything is great."

"Honestly sir, I think I was just nervous."

"Nervous? What do you have to be nervous about, we've already met once before?"

"This is true but, it had been under different circumstances and I don't believe any of us were in the right mindset."

"Well... I can't argue with that. Maybe we should take this into the dining room, we can have lunch and you two can fill us in on what you've been up to."

"Ok, that sounds nice sir."

"Hon just call me Jimmy."

We all sit down at the dining room table and I can't help but notice that Dylan's mom hasn't said a word to me yet, which make me feel uncomfortable and awkward. Just as I was about to speak, a man walked in with a silver platter. They have a butler? Holy fuck? Dylan's dad didn't strike me as the billionaire type, he always seemed so down-to-earth; wholesome. His mom on the other hand dresses the part, and she does seem more self-involved. I remember Dylan telling me he has a sister he hasn't seen in a long time. I question whether I should say anything because the silence is killing me. After we're finished eating, Dylan grabs my hand and smiles at me.
