She's surrounded by mirrors.
Her reflection smiles
Perfect pink lips
She holds her head high
Beautiful blue eyes
The shutter clicks
Post a pretty picture. She goes through the comments
They finally think she's skinny
she hasn't eaten for a few days
She must have good genes
She hides the pills under her bed
Cause last year they said 'fat'.She craves her parents' praise
Gets the highest grades
Hasn't slept all week to study
But it's alright,
The make-up covers
The graves under her eyes. But her friends told her to
loosen up, have some fun
So she did what they said
Went to parties and drank
Her boyfriend said she wasn't enough
So she changed.Walking down the street
People stare in awe
She's admired, wanted, loved.
Someone whispers her name
She turns to hear them say
she's fake.She's surrounded by mirrors.
Her reflections distorted
like in a carnival tent.
She doesn't know which one is real
drowning in quicksand
Lost all her pieces, now it's too late
There's nothing left for her to change.
