Heron (Ardeidae): Long-legged birds typically found in marshes and swamps. They catch prey by standing quietly in shallow water and waiting for fish to swim by.

I don't think she would have minded

if she had been a waterfall

in the crevice of a lonely forest

her tears cascading into moonlight

weeping the melody of a forsaken star

for that was the nature of her existence -

she fell

and she felt

so deeply

her waters

could drown

her soul

and

her beauty

was the beauty of solitude,

glimpsed

for an

ephemeral moment

before fading

into darkness

like sunset

dissipates to dust.
