July 28, 1971
The sweet aroma of flowers filled the air. Thalia was standing at the same counter she has been for the past view summers. Dottie's Flowers was owned by Thalia's Aunt Dottie, so she had a guaranteed job throughout high school. She was braiding her blonde hair when the door jingled as it opened and a young man walked in. She dropped her braid and let it fall out.
"Good morning," He said in a mellow voice.
"Good Morning," Thalia replied as she watched him browse the selection of flowers sitting out.
He picked up a bouquet of white flowers and took them to his nose to take in their scent. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet. "How much are these, love?
She gave him the answer he was looking for, then watched as he fumbled around in his wallet for the appropriate amount. Once found enough he handed to Thalia.
"Thank you, have a lovely day," she said cheerfully.
"Thanks, you too," He said with a smile. She couldn't help but notice how his eyes crinkled around the corners.
Even after the man left, Thalia was still thinking about him. He seemed familiar, but she probably would have remembered if he bought flowers from her before. By the time he came back in an hour later, Thalia thought she was hallucinating. The second time he walked back up to the counter he seemed a bit uneasy.
"Hello," Thalia said, still just as cheerful as before despite her confusion. "Welcome back. Is there anything I can do for you?"
"Yes, actually, there is. I was wondering if you would like to go to dinner with me tomorrow night."
Thalia smiled. "I would love to."
"How does seven sound?" He asked.
"That's perfect," she answered. She wrote her number on a piece of paper scrap paper from the counter and handed it to him. "I'll see you at seven then..."
He chuckled. "John."
"John," She said with a smile.
He began to leave, but as he was walking, he was looking down at the piece of paper and knocked over a potted plant that was sitting on the floor. Thalia stifled a laugh. John chuckled uncomfortably before muttering something under his breath. He walked over the door and smiled at Thalia once more before leaving.
Once the door had closed behind him, she let out a squeal of excitement. She could hardly believe what had happened. What were the odds of the cute customer coming back in to ask her out? Thalia didn't know, but she definitely was not expecting it.
There was a smile plastered to Thalia's face for the rest of the day. John seemed nice enough, maybe their date would go well and this could be the star of Thalia's first 'adult' relationship. Of course, she had a few boyfriends before, but they were never that serious. John had the potential to be. Or he had the potential to be crazy, but Thalia would figure that out tomorrow at seven.

That was my first chapter, I hope you enjoyed! Sorry that it's so short, this is the first Queen fanfic I've written so it'll take me a little while to get used to.
This series takes place in an alternate timeline so the dates for album releases, concerts, and tours are not accurate.
This chapter was edited on 9/2/20.
